I'll be going to a flea market or two this weekend, wish me luck...

I haven't had much luck with finding cheap multi-tools. I did buy a NIB 1950s sterling silver Eversharp Slim Ventura fountain pen with a matching pencil for $3 once, but that's not a tool so it doesn't count

Good luck at those flea markets thatotherguy  :tu:

Only the joining part was free.

I've had amazing deals on LMs over years. But the cheapest deal I ever had was a dozen BNiB Bucktools 6x 360 & 6 X 355 for £7 each...oh and the seller threw in some freebies to sweaten the deal!! :o

I don't think I'll ever be that lucky again...EVER!
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

So, wouldn't this make it one of the first PSTs LM ever made?

Here's my best deal, my August, 1995 Mini Tool with sheath that only cost $16.

No, the first PST is this http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/531577-Leatherman-PST-001-(1983)

I just simply thought I hadn't got this one yet. I think the coolest part about this one is the original sheath. Seller said it mostly stayed in the sheath. While it is quite encouraging to read that, I hope it has been taken care of with periodic oiling. I would hate to clean up rust and scratch the tool.

BTW, you beat me at the Mini though. The cheapest Mini I got was $16, used without sheath.

For a Leatherman?

My Surge was a TSA seizure. $25 cash at the state surplus store. Same batch also had a $5 Vic Timekeeper and a $15 LM Sideclip. That was about 2 years ago.

Yep, one from the first production PSTs made, for sale by Cabela's through their catalogue.  Fantastic find   :tu:   :salute:   (and one I haven't managed to get yet, but it is encouraging that they still come on the market from time to time)

I'm slightly surprised it has solid knurled screws, I thought back then (the very early days of production) they were using the odd-looking "hollow" knurled screws.

If you asked my wife this question she would say every single one was a deal.

The og Super Tool is the best by far. Next would be a BO PST NIB bought from a thread posted here. An eBay seller with a lot full of new PST's.

Ah yes, I know what you mean :salute: PSTs were way cheaper when I first started collecting and you could even get an old one cheap
