If over 100 people were hacked,  but not the common citizen,  then I am more inclined to think this was an inside job at Apple,  it is much easier to imagine a DB admin with a flash drive, than 100 separate hacks.  I am no database person,  but at some level, someone has access, even if it is encrypted.  they might have grabbed it months ago, and finally finished a brute force.

I've always believed anything that goes online will never come off.

But I do feel sorry for them. Some are just a few topless photos so nothing out of ordinary, but some are pretty bad. When there are photos of someone kneeled down with, well you know if you've seen them, it changes public perception of the person, can't really look at her anymore without thinking of those photos.

One of the most horrifying things my mother has ever said was that if cell phones with cameras existed when she was in high school... yeah. Things I do NOT want to know. People have been having talking dirty for as long as there has been language and drawing/taking naughty pictures since the dawn of time.

Honestly, the only thing that bothers me is that they got cracked. Unethical, and the black hat who did it should be hung. But yeah, the "cloud" isn't secure. You can lock the door, but someone with a rock can open the window pretty easy.

The fact that it happened to such a large and public company (Apple) is really interesting to me.  Now, it's unlikely there was any actual "hacking" involved, more likely the bigger (but lesser known) boogeyman of social engineering.

I honestly wonder if the details of how the breech came about will be ever really known publicly.

Read the comments on most articles out there and you will see a lot of people using terms like "apple polishing"  or denial.

It's whack a mole, for every one they knock down there probably will be 5 uploads, unless the sharing site has auto recognition like youtube does. Besides it's all over file sharing site, they can't whack those.

As much as I feel badly for the people who's pictures were stolen and released, they're never, never, EVER coming off the internet.  Even if they manage to knock down literally every single website, it takes one person to upload a torrent and it's everywhere again.

I think it may be a little unreasonable (or at least, rather pessimistic) to judge someone based on picture taken either by themselves or with a partner in the privacy of their home.
