Hardly a challenge if people are going to carry backup stuff.  :pok:

 :P ;)
Honestly, it will be a challenge for me regardless of the MT factor.  I wouldn't be using any SAK for pliers, so it won't factor in much at all.  I rely on my Rogueneer for pretty much anything I encounter with the exception of the pliers obviously.  I will be attempting to rely on the Compact for all other tasks, and it's the only minimalist SAK with scissors, which is something I've gotta have, especially since my wife asks to use scissors rather regularly...

I'll have a similar with my wife always asking for a file, scissors excetera. I relay wish she would carry her own SAK.

It shouldn't take them more than a few days to work out that you and Monrogue don't have your big knives on you. Will it?

That was my wife too, until she heard that the Swiss Clipper existed.  Now she keeps a purple one with her all the time :)

Ok, this is just off the top of my head;

1) Classic
2) Rambler
3) Executive
4) Bantam
5) Recruit
6) Pocket Pal
7) Cadet
8) Lumberjack
9) Tinker
10) Spartan
11) Waiter
12) Compact
13) Scientist
14) Pioneer/Alox Soldier
15) Electrician

I'm sure there are lots others.

The hard part is I would consider the DofE acceptable, so it really comes down to what is challenging for you.

Hmmmm, I quite fancy adding a phillips and small blade to a pioneer to build a 3 layer knife that has exactly the same toolset as a tinker, but I think that might but against the spirit of the challenge...

You know what'd be a real minimalist challenge? 58's only. >:D
...Actually, for my minimalist challenge, I think I'll go with my midnite manager. I realize that will sound ridiculous as a minimalist tool because it has so many parts, but it's hard for me to imagine going without a full size blade.

Althought that was a tough one ... :ahhh decision was taken:
"Classic" SAK would take the challenge, moreover ...
it will be a Wenger, so Wenger's Wednesday will be observed as well

s10 obviously ... :o

Excuse alert.  :ahhh   I'm sure she can look after herself. But you, not so much.

You may be right there   She probably could handle it herself, but she's come to expect and rely on the fact that I always have a knife and scissors on me.

Time to hand over the Rogueneer then.  :tu:

Edit: And the OHT.  :)

You'll have to pry it from my cold, dead hand :pok:   The OHT isn't mine though ;)

Me too.  The sad thing is, mine has a Classic in her purse, but she won't carry it on her.  To her it's easier to just ask me because she knows she can rely on the fact that I will always be carrying one.

Ok, ok...I'll do a Pioneer like AZR but....

The legal stuff....

I reserve the right to use my Wenger cigar cutter when I have a cigar and to photograph aforementioned cutter with my cigar for the Cigar Thread....furthermore I reserve the right to trade the minimalist Pioneer for a Wenger SI on Wenger Wed if I so desire...other rights and privileges may be granted if not prohibited by law including drinking, carousing and being loud/obnoxious while carrying the minimalist EDC choice.

LOL, nah. I put away all those 7-8 extra SAKs I keep in my EDC bag so it is a challenge for me, even with the cigar cutter.  :D

My Pioneer/SI will be the only knife I really EDC all month. :tu:

Ok, I am in with my compact 1911. What I am wondering is, are you out the moment you grab a dedicated tool your out, or if I go camping or hunting, I can't use my bushknife, saw and tomahawk?

To me, it seems using a dedicated tool for a specific task wouldn't take away from the challenge.  I'm going to need pliers and other tools for house projects, but I'll leave them in the toolbox until they're needed.

Does that sound about right?

I'm good to go  :tu:

Set Number 1

Set Number 2

Set Number 3

Set Number 4

Set Number 5

I'll bounce between sets based on what I think I can get away with at the time, though I will have back up in the car too :D Yes, there is a pliers tool in each set. I will try to manage without it, but I need to cover that somehow. I have kept the tools simple, remebering I'd normally have a Diesel or MP400 or Spirit or .......

To go full old school minimalist (while still keeping our clothes on) is anyone up to pairing their minimalist SAK with a minimalist flashlight? A 5mm LED only month? >:D

I got really excited for a moment, and then I read what's in the bracket... :D

Really?! :sa:  I am already thinking farmer or 111mm PE trekker to enter in that scenario, which is pretty much what I would carry on a EDC basis. :D

50ft-trad, just out of curiosity, what's in the black box?  And if you must choose, blueberry or Toffee?

It's all nasal snuff. Plain in the box, and flavoured in the tins. At last count I'd got over 60 flavours to choose from  :D Forced to choose between blueberry and toffee, I'd probably go for toffee (though the rum and raisin is very nice too) unless it was for all day and I'd ditch both and stick to the plain  :)

I don't have a farmer or PE OHT. I have a SOSAK OHT, and that is one of the few shelf queens I have.

I do highly recommend both of those tools for camping/wilderness outing purposes, especially the PE (OHT) Trekker.  A really great backup (or even main) tool for your usual combo.  Btw, my cold steel tomahawk got in with the Estwing, I will post more pix in the axe subforum.  :D

Those are great tools. The More is my main blade for camping, hunting and bushcrafting in general. I would to get some of the other that you have mentioned, but money is kinda tight, and I can spend so much on cool toys.

Probably not. Some are quite distinct, apricot, toffee, sea breezes, thyme and lemon, chocolate orange, christmas pudding ... but many are more subtle in their differences. A lot of them also change quite a bit dependent on air quality, humidity, temperature and such, and can be pleasant one day but not another
