Monrogue,

I agree 100% - the need for pliers is something that should be an allowable exception to the Challenge IMHO - with the proviso that ONLY the pliers be allowed for use... :)

This is a complex subject isnt it!! Lol

Seems like a LM Mini Tool would be an acceptable carry in this case.

Sorry, mine is old skool. But it has the thicker blade and tang. Well worth the fingernail file. IMO
The nail file would be sweet to have. Maybe I might mod it a tad later. Not sure.
Nate

Yeah, I'm the other way around, but I don't use it lots; I just like having one.

I'm all for that :tu:  I would stick to only using the pliers if necessary.  I hardly ever really use my MT for anything else, so I can commit myself to that.  Yes, it is a complex subject, and one of many where I can go on and on, as I may be known to do around here

Seems like a LM Mini Tool would be an acceptable carry in this case.

That would be perfect for this challenge.  Unfortunately I don't have one :-\

I am giving all of this up....

For this.....

Wow! On my test run to day, I had to walk to the shop 3 times for pliers, phillips and a wood saw. I do mess the OH blades. I am used to that fast opening and being able to do things one handed. All and all, I did ok, I did not run for my Surge.

Also, the Compact 1911 is shoptoad approved.

Nope, but they have a tremendous grip bite.

Man, you got a pet toad there? Cool. I once knew a pet rat that liked beer.

LMAO! That cool. This toad is not really a pet per say. It just hangs around my shop for some reason. I guess it is cool there and a lot of bugs to eat. Funny thing is, it likes to be petted. LOL! Go figure. I hope it shows back up in the spring.

I've been monitoring my SAK uses for the last few days and I think I'll fail very soon with the Waiter.

LOTS of use of scissors, awl, and phillips once or twice. All the tools the Waiter lacks.

BTW, when do we start?

Also, will there be a new thread that we report to, or do we report to this one?

The challenges starts tomorrow, whenever that may be in your corner of the world, and it will run for 30 days.

Tonight I will start a new thread for everyone to report to.

Also, to sweeten the pot, at the end of the 30 days I will do a give a way that is open to everyone who participates.  :gimme:

I don't know what I'll give away yet, but it will be cool.  This is open to all who participate, even those who "fail," as long as you confess ;)  So, there will be a bit of an honor system at play.

Good luck to everyone, and have fun!

Me too.  It's very intriguing to me to see how well I get by.  I wish my Compact would arrive tomorrow, but I doubt it will.  Soon though.

I tried it and gave up after two days.  I was carrying an alox Bantam and just found it too small to be useful as my only knife.

Back to the Benchmade Griptillian and Farmer for me it is.
