And... now it's gone

I keep having this happen, and it makes me mad.

I haven't found a lot of low-cost MTs that I thought were good, but it seems inevitable that when I DO, they stop making them pretty much immediately after I find them.

The two best examples are the Sheffield 12010 (or any other name it goes by), and theNorthern Industrial Tools 'Mountain' multitool.

The Sheffield was like a tiny copy of the PST II. For the cost ($5), it was quite good. Bad fit and finish, but great functionality.

The Mountain was a big beast of a tool, built like a tank, and sold for $7 in store.

Now, they're gone.

And, while that's sad, another departed tool is Home Depot's pretty terrible Husky 14-in-1. So... win some, lose some.

the Sheffield is gone! :dwts:
I had around 3 of those...then broke or lost them. But they were awesome little tools.

But not to worry SEARS has a similar multi this Christmas. It has scissors rather than pliers and is available in 6 colors. Cant attest to quality but seemed a little better than I remember my old Sheffields being. Keep meaning to stop in and get one, I drive by probably 20 times a day.
At 7$ its not the same but as close as I've seen in a while.

I used to be a lot of things, and someday will again.
But for now I'm just a lost jack of trades with neither mastery nor home. ~NoaIsumi

You mean THIS one?

It's okay. A bit heavy for my taste.

Yep I kinda figured it had made the rounds here as I've seen the before. But my local store is just a hardware and appliance in a small space so they don't get the full selection the one further  in city does. Hence a Christmas display.

Its destination was my firstaid kit, I already have trauma shears strapped to the outside but wanted a small multi for inside.
