Thanks! :salute:

By the way. Would you mind explaining to the mrs why there are going to be so many more knives with holes in them arriving in the mail, and so little money left in the bank account?
Im kind of going to blame that on you...

I ordered a previous catalog and they sent it immediatelly but I had a hard time to resist. One needs just one knife for a common peaceful life and I already have an Endura (not to mention Opinels, Victorinox, Wengers, Leathermans and a Ladybug etc) but it is difficult resisting all those colors and shapes, all those mermaids singing the Siren song. A real torture.
But then, I might order it all the same.

But I kinda figured, I might get a better deal online (Now that I have seen it up close, it was labeled Chapparal). Besides Klötzli is older than Victorinox, they exist since 1846!

The only spydeco's I'm interested in at the moment are the light weight Native 5 and the Police III. We'll see what Mules or Sprints are offered this year. I'm always interested in the Mules. Sounds like there maybe some intertesting steels to play with this year.     :D

I won't own one until they do unless I get a great deal on it.

I've never understood that.

The police used to really bug me too. I think the harpy is also tip up or down now.

It does seem odd that, having come up with perhaps the ideal solution, i.e. drill and tap four sets of holes and let the user decide tip up or tip down and RH or LH, Spyderco hasn't extended this practice to all of their folders.

With regard to exciting offerings in the 2015 catalog, I would like to pick up a Tatanka, but with a MSRP of $320 and a current street price around $200, I would have to find a great deal to snag one.

I had been quite interested in the Tananka also but felt it was a knife that should have been made here becase of its name. The price is way to high for what it is. Of course every thing is to high priced with the devaluation of the dollar at the moment. My interest in the Tatanak has cooled off considerably. Maybe some time later.

I see all our favorite brands do the same marketing tricks. A design in many variations (mostly color but sometimes material and configuration), sprint runs for collectors, discontinuing popular models very early to escalate demand (the Beanie Babies phenomenon), leaving something that could be easily implemented for escalating anticipation of a next release/version,  purposeful incompleteness of any model to pair it with another, use of technical details in a way that implies quality and edge of technology (or quality and tradition for others, or both), showcasing if full arsenal to escalate hoarding, rationalizing high prices with exotic materials, state of the art technology, country of origin etc, use of aesthetics and "sex appeal" I wrote elsewhere about and so on. Thus, in a timespace that denies knives and related tools and everything opens with minimal force if a single finger, where a 10$ Opinel or Solo makes us armed like a lobster compared with the mean John Doe and a Swisschamp is provided with tools mist of us will never use, we have from dozens to thousands of knives, SAKs and multitools each and still talk about them here and read about them in the net, the catalogs and the stores and drool over their pictures.
On the other hand, since we enjoy it, it doesn't mind. But they could show from time to time that they listen to their clients (we know they read us here and elsewhere) and intend to satisfy our needs/wants. Until they do it, buy this and buy the newer version in a couple of years (that might miss something else then) and if you are a collector buy them all.
There will be a time the Chinese will do the same and they will rant against the Indians or Brasilians (or whoever will manage to catch up in industrialization the next decades) that will offer affordable tools that do the job and leave us money to pay the bills and loans.

I forgot about the Foundry. Its a knife I might consider but I'm sure it will be way out of my price range. I guess we shall see when it arrives.    :)

I really wish they would do digital camo G-10 scales (like the PM2) for the Tenacious, Persistence, Ambitious, Resilience line. I would be ALL OVER those.

Agree that the price is too high, but it is already starting to come down.  As of the time of this post, they are available on Amazon for $180.  If they drop below $150 I would probably pick one up, and would definitely grab one for $130.

With regard to country of origin, the marketing people probably come up with the names, but I've yet to be disappointed in Japanese steel from Spyderco.
