I paid a lot of money for one folding knife, which actually didn't cut things any better than anything esle I owned and felt quite ... empty. I still like the knife, but would never pay that much for a folder again. That said, you and tend to measure knife quality/value differently I don't think you are ever going to know unless you go for it mate. Of course you might find out you are not as happy as you hoped, but at least they do hold their value fairly well as I understand it. I'd hate for you to feel disappointed in it, but unless you get one in your mitts .. you'll never knowThis is where we differ as you said. I know a $500 knife will cut almost exactly the same as a $50 knife. Its exactly the same with watches. A $10 Timex tells the time as well as a $5000 Rolex, but people spend the money on a Rolex for the quality. Its exactly the same situation. I find the manufacturing process and materials used to be where the cost is "justified".Yeah, I hoped to feel the same way too ... but didn't ... though that might be choice of knife, as much as my own character. Then again, I have paid big money for a fixed blade and felt much happier, maybe because it was a bigger heavier lump of knife. Different psychology at play. I think if you just want to experience the precision of manufacturing rather than it feeling it fits you personally like a glove, you're maybe heading in the right direction. How would you feel if the build quality was sheer perfection, but it just didn't quite sit right in your hand, or the thumb stud didn't quite replace the spydie hole you're used to? Would you still feel you had got what you hoped for?I am not "picky" about how it fits my hand. That is not why I would buy one. I am pretty happy with how any knife fits my hand to be honest. I am easy going about that sort of thing. I also know the action and thumb stud will be different. The Sebenza was designed before the time of the tactical folders we know today that are all about speed and fast deployment so while I am a bit concerned about the thumb stud it is not a show stopper as I will not be deploying the knife in the same fashion as say a Spyderco.

So now I must make a decision to wait for the one I really want or to buy something else now. I know if I buy one now (and love the knife) when the model I really want comes out I will want it, but most likely not be able to afford it. I could buy one and the other knife arrives for sale the next week or it could be 3-6 months from now. Its the unknown that kills me. If it were me, I would wait for the one I really wanted. I'd Make sure the money for it is hidden away so I don't spend it on something else. +1 It will be worth the wait do you have one sawman?

I'd personally not buy the knife I didnt really want. I would wait and save and wait. If you dont have the ability to do that then are there other knives you are interested in?

If I were to finally buy one I would wait as long as it took to get the exact one I desired
I know I have been going back and forth on this decision as it is a big one, but as it sits now I will try and wait it out for the model I really want. I guess things could change, but that's how I am feeling now. Lets just hope they show up sooner than later.
Which version are you wanting to get capt?
Well we all know I change my mind a lot. I ordered a Sebenza just a few minutes ago. I went with the plain Large 21. I really got to thinking about it and made the decision for a few different reasons that to me make a lot of sense. I am happy with the order and just hope i'm even happier when I receive it.
Cool! So what are you going to cut with it first, beside yourself that is. Nate

Dang to bad you did not wait Cappy, Blade HQ has the carbon fiber inlays models in stock now.

The plain ones look much better to me, and after watching the videos posted upthread from I'd love to get my hands on (not necessarily buy) a plain edge small 21.
