I hate it when that happens.

You might be better off modding one, or posting in the tools wanted thread......

Best of luck.

The magnifying glass was one ofthe reasons I  couldn't separate myself  from a Swisschamp for 30 years. Things changed just very recently and one of the main reasons was my decision to EDC a real 10x triplet, a Belomo in my case. But I still have a Vic magnifying  "glass" in the form of the compass/thermometer of  the  big SOS kit that I find very handy.
The rest of  the Scientist's tools can be found in many SAKs, in a Spirit and an Alox with scissors in my case.
In  your  case I would  get an Explorer Plus and have the added bonus of  the  scissors and the  hook.

I appreciate the advice kkokkolis.  My favorite edc in the city is a black Vic Expolorer Plus. I also have a red pre '89 Explorer and a newer SwissChamp.

But the Scientist was so....slim in the pocket

Luna! I was happy with my Explorer and my Woodsman mod...Why did you have to bring up the Scientist?? Why???

Now I'm thinking about how to make one.

It's that damn nail file on the hook.  Costs a fortune for some Swiss watchmaker to hammer each individual bit of diamond into the back of it. ;)

And they charge a lot for all the scale tools on the Compact, as I was told.

Same scales tools as on a Swiss Champ, and you can get one of those in the UK for £43 (a Compact is about £28).  I would imagine it's down to the number Victorinox make, and what they feel they can get away with charging.

And I agree about the Scientist.  They should reissue the Passenger, Modeler and Woodsman too. :gimme:

Yeah! I had to make a Woodsman, but at least  I got to include a hook and the spring lanyard ring, and practice my peening.

I agree.  Re-release the Scientist and the Yeoman.  Two of the best EDCs they ever made.
Yes that's true, but I've been out to sea a long time.
