I stopped wearing a wrist watch back in the early 1990's.  I bought this Victorinox pendant watch at about that time.  Since the cell phone has become common, I don't wear it much anymore.  I noticed the battery has recently died again.  Do you still wear a wrist watch?  Perhaps you carry one of the Victorinox Time Keeper knives?  I considered one years ago, but was concerned it would not hold up to daily abuse.

To me, the Timekeeper but also the models with electronic clocks have always been a bit of a novelty. I do always wear a wrist watch despite always having two smartphones on me but that's simply because I like watches. Especially mechanical/automatic ones.

My Super Timer watch held up to years of hard word and abuse. It is the BEST SAK ever made, followed by the CT 41. IMO of course. Since then, I only carried pocket watches til my last one took a nice hit on the concrete floor. I am trying the wrist watch thing now. I think I am going to have to find a super timer again or a pocket watch. The wrist watch is not really working for me.

I would be afraid of breaking the scales on a Timekeeper, and as I wear a wrissmurfch I only really need the SAK to be the dozen useful tools it is anyway.

As usual with this forum though, the enthusiasm from other people bleeds through their posts and into my head and I build an appreciation I didn't have before.

One of the many things I love about the forum.

Quite frankly those are excellent with a 3 piece suit if you ask me. Had my grandfather's pocket watch on my prom night and I will have it again during my college promotion mostly because of the sentimental value.
Normally I wear a wrist watch although the batteries are dead on mine.

Excellent mod  :tu:

I'm a wrist watch wearer.  I like the simplicity of a watch yet if I need I have access to other functions.  I carry a cell but checking the time on it is not something I do.

I have clocks everywere (wall, electrical appliances, laptops, tablet, smartphone) but still don't feel OK to be left without a wrissmurfch. I just bought a new one, one I wanted for years. I like pockesmurfches too and I have a couple, one is a nice Soviet hunting watch that's mechanical and always ready. But I love that Victorinox you have. I never had a Victorinox (except the one on my XAVT) but I love the Swiss Army (Hanowa) stainless steel that proved very good since I EDCed it for years and it still works perfectly with just some subtle scrarches on the glass.

Which one would that be? And is it just me or does it seem that some things don't last as long any more?

A '79 Rolex Submariner. I swapped the the diver band for the jubilee bracelet when I bought it new in '80. When I was in college I would drop it my beer glass, kill the beer and pull the watch out of my mouth.....many a drunk ruined a nice watch trying to duplicate that.

I've been wearing a Citizen Eco-Drive for about 7 years now and apart from a few scratches etc it's a top watch.

Apart from SAKs and multitools mechanical wrissmurfches is a passion of mine. Theres something about the mechanical precision work that attracts. Unfortunately it's an expensive hobby but I wear a divers mechanical autowind watch 24/7/365.

Nice try, but your spelling of the wristwatch isn't passing my spelling checker. :P

Try it with saltwater or pocketwatch. :pok:

You mean smurfing wrissmurfches?  I don't like wearing things on my wrists or rings on my fingers.  Also, leather and polymer bands tend to make my skin break out with a rash.
