I just got a Gerber Dime Travel from a TSA Seizure batch...

For more information about this model:
"Gerber’s Dime Travel is their new version of the standard Dime tool.  Lacking a blade, the Dime Travel will look up through the X-Ray machine at the TSA operator and grin!"

Guess who ended up grinning...

Its sad that there is so much randomness in these checks, clear regulations and TSA-agents that know them AND stick to them would be really helpful.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I realize this might be off-topic, but I'm of the opinion that clear regulations that are followed to the letter... become very easy to anticipate and allow those trying to get around those regulation to do so with impunity. Randomness is definitely a plus in that regard. Kind of like allowing children through without being screened... if that were the case, why not just hide contraband on a kid or elderly person?

By the way, this is the offending entity:

Yes, but too much randomness means that they basically can take away whatever they want...

Ad absurdum think if regular Police would do this:
The speed limit is 80, you did drive 79... bad luck I think this is too much here is your fine!

I think you should be able to rely on those guidlines.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

The rules are open to interpretation by the various TSA officers which is both good and bad.  Tools like this might technically be legal bit of you attempt to point this out to an agent they might take that as you being belligerent and the situation can escalate quickly.

I love my tools but I don't take anything with me at all.  It's not worth being put on the No Fly List over a collection of screwdrivers and a bottle opener.  I wear a belt, shorts, light shirt and sandals when I travel just to keep from offending TSA agents with delicate sensibilities, even when it's cold out.
