I want one Too bad that i cant let my swisstool X go If a friend asks me for a good pocket knife this will be the one i will advise him to buy.

The STX is a good stand alone (maybe the best?), so to me pairing the Pioneer X would seem redundant. All the Leathermans on the other hand lack good openers, good scissors and a good awl, areas where the Pioneer X excels. But definitely get one for lighter carry options!
I think we are all drawn to pre-orders, because we want our toys now. But having done many pre-orders in the past, mostly for Spydercos and other folding knives, it often bites me in the rear because other vendors may get the same item sooner or cheaper. And then you are locked into your pre-order, and it can turn into a bummer.Pre-orders can be a good idea on limited edition pieces, where you can secure your place in line. But on regular production items, it is often better to wait until they are released, and then you can select from the either the first vendors to offer the item, or the sellers with the best prices.
The listing for this has shown up on the local supplier's site here in South Africa, between silver and coloured Farmers in price- seems reasonable. Not in stock yet, but I'm thinking I might hang on to see if they do a special order in colour later in the year.
My 'x' came in today. I'll post some take down pics tomorrow for those curious. I have a mod thats been years in the making that I can finally complete now that I have scissors with a nail nick on the wrong side like these are. (OHO trekker with scissors layer between saw and main blade)
Still £12 more than a Farmer though. I'm sure the price will eventually come down as stock becomes more available.
When they release a X with black scales and red shield, I'll jump the train.
Question: will those with modded Pioneers with scissors be picking up a Pioneer X? Will you be do it for better fit and finish? Collectability? --Sent from mobile, please excuse typos
