The Hydra is one cool blade! Not sure about Microtech making office knives though. After all, Mr Wick used a CT ;)

It's very true what made Microtech famous, was the fact it was seen in John Wick. The Troodon and Ultratech used in the films were high end expensive non fantasy military tactile knives. Most of Microtechs line up would fall into this category save the Halo 5 and 6 which imo are fantasy style military tactical knives. Other than that though these are expensive pieces usually meant for high end clientele. That being said lots of regular Joe's like me carry them, beat the heck out of them, use them every day sort of thing. Tony had more of a military mindset coming strait from the armed services to make knives. His son probably grew up playing halo and watching movies like Doom this had an effect on his knife making ability I feel. So the designs are worlds apart. They was I looked at it was, I could walk into a office interview and if I had a all black ultratech in my pocket it wouldn't garner any attention it would just look like a pen. If I had my red hydra with high vis lanyard sticking out of my pocket people are going to start to ask questions in that environment. That kinda where I was going with it.
He wore a business suit and tie lol, not dressed in casual. Even though yes it was a bulletproof suit, it was a suit.

Thanks for the explanation! Granted my experience on Microtechs don’t go further than owning a CT.
Also, the show of pocket clip had not entered my mind but makes sense.
Maybe its just me, but I don’t clip my knives but rather carry them in front trouser or jacket’s pen/cigar holder pocket.
I even go as far as remove them when feasible. A good example would be Spydies Vallotton sub-hilt, removing the clip improved the looks appr. 1911 times :)

Yes glad I could elaborate on what I was trying to go for lol. Now I'm on a mission I've got get a few knives sharpened this morning. There's my version of a Johnny knife in this photo. Enjoy! Best of wishes Cam.

I love that coffee Gary!  I usually keep a box around for when I want a fast cup.  When I was in the Army, we used to get packets of Taster's Choice in the MRE's.  I don't think I've ever had a better cup than one of those after being out in the field for a couple of weeks.

You know Barry, I heard the definition of an outdoorsman was someone who would complain about the coffee that his wife made at home.  Then he would boil up coffee with creek water in a rusty can, filter it through an old red bandana and say it was gooooood.  Best wishes.  G

Sounds about right Gary!  I gotta say my wife breaks the mold.  Mrs. R can brew up a great pot of coffee ☕☕

The Taster's Choice MRE coffee was kinda hit-and-miss. I think those I had access to came with standard Type I or Type III. More recent ones have Bill's Brew.

Coffee is brewing.  I found a bunch of K-cups for the nice handy Keurig coffee maker.  That I don't have.  Used Wenger to cut open a K-cup.  The blade sharpened up nicely with just a few strokes on a medium Arkansas.  I said I would try the combo tool on a can.  The thing doesn't have a sharpened edge.  I wouldn't categorically state that the combo wouldn't work on ANY can, but it wouldn't work on the one I used as a test subject.  Not sharp enough to pierce the can lid.  I hooked it on and pulled hard as I dared.  Just a little dent.  Any harder could have led to a catestrophic chassis failure scenario.  Didn't want that since I like the knife.  Probably would open a bottle okay.  Best wishes. Good morning Gary!  It's cold enough for a couple of cups here.  We got down to -6 after I took a pic at -3.  Love that Wenger! ☕☕

Morning fellas! We were at -11° F last night when I went to bed and now up to 30°F now with the Chinook winds. I'm not sure which is worse, the frigid temps or the wind. At least some of this ice should melt today. It's a big cup kind of morning, just like every other morning

Only got down to 10F here.  I feel like a piker.  I like that big green Stanley mug.  Probably made a mistake when I didn't take friend MTSAK up on his kind offer of a Buck knife loan for that challenge.  Everyone seems to be having fun.  Good to hear MTSAK and Barry are amongst the living.
Be that as it may, I failed to mention the coffee brand used this morning.  K-cup says this is Donut Shop coffee.  Great Value (Wmart) brand.  It is good.  I can get about 2 cups of the desired concentration from one K-cup.  I think of K-cup as being a short form of Kowboy Koffee.  I might still have an antique percolator out in a storage building?  I did have a modern plastic one, but it could have gotten tossed.  So, it's boiled water in a small pot filtered through a paper towel for me.  Best wishes.  G

You are a pal, Montana.  There wouldn't be any point to getting one now, I suppose.  I appreciate the offer anyway.  I have scratched around and found a couple of combo blade items for the soon coming February Combo Blade Challenge.  I also took a look at the MacGyver thing and the Key Chain affair.  I could sign up for one or maybe both of them.
I am a little surprised at how little interest the MacGyver (and also the keychain deal) are realizing.  I thought MTO was full of wannabe MacGyveristas.  I watched S01 E02 of the Richard Dean Anderson original series.  Hadn't seen one in years.  I forgot about the duct tape usage.  I watched part of an episode of the newer series, but didn't like it much.  Best wishes.  G

I used to eat breakfast sometimes in a cafe downtown.  Working guys.  Food was good and plenty of it.  The cook in the back piled on the extra biscuits to all the phone workers, utility men, and construction guys.  They filled up.  Probably the only meal most of the guys had all day.  Many biscuits were tucked away in Carhartts or painter's overalls. The waitress would fill up their thermos bottles to take with them with the cafe's good coffee.  Inevitably they carried a battered old green Stanley.  Probably carried the same one until they died or retired.
Best wishes.  G

I hope this mug lasts me that long. The mug quality is great but the lid is junk. I use it as my recliner mug though so I don't have to get up and refill as often.  :D
Makes my 2yo and the cat cranky when I have to kick them off my lap for a refill.

My parents just moved into their new house and my mom found my dad's old green Stanley thermos from when he was working in the refineries in South Louisiana. It went straight in the pantry though so I couldn't swipe it. :D

So many of the new coffee mugs have lousy lids.  I have a Stanley thermos I bought new in 1991.  It just keeps on working!

My wife bought me my first Stanley about 12yrs ago.  It never really kept my coffee as hot as I expected so my wife recommended I email them about it.  They asked me to send them a picture of a number from the bottom of the thermos.  Once they received it they determined that it was from a bad batch.  They sent me a new one and asked me to throw the old one way.  That's what I call great customer support.  It's been rock solid ever since.  I don't get to use it nearly as much anymore as I'm no longer out in the field.
May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.
