Get a Stanley knife that can hold spare blades internally.

Best box opener I ever had is a Tekut Fairy... Very pointy, insanely sharp, the serrations do away with hard cardboard easily, it's very pretty and really cheap so it won't matter if you lose it.
I also think a Spyderco Dragonfly 2 ZDP189 is an amazing box opener, it's far from being cheap, but it's small and sharp and sage and the steel is so strong you'll never have to sharpen it  :D

I've used box cutters for years (decades) and they work and do the job, that Gerber EAB is sweet, wish I had that when I was a trade show worker/carpenter (soo perdy)

I have several Mora's and no knife I know of is more versatile and inexpensive for how it performs and what it does ... but what I and the better half go to when we open boxes is something fast and sharp and feels good in our hands; our Benchmade Griptilian with Axis lock (check it out on youtube)

The problem is it does require sharpening and for years we used stones, rod systems, belt sanders and now... just a simple/anyone can do Kitchen knife sharpener (ACCUSHARP) it's fast does a good job and so easy.

Now this option is not really cheap (the knife) but not insane either and you can get a cheaper and smaller mini-griptilian or other axis or assisted blades. My point is we go to what's fun and does the job (well or better) and it looks good! just my 2 cents worth  ;)

best of both worlds  :D

I have this. It is huge, but I think it will be great for a warehouse worker, hanging from his belt in it's sheath (with spare blades). And it is locking too.

In my case, it is always an Opinel #8 Jardin.

Just to suggest something a little different, how about a Christy knife?

Cheap, good looking (certainly has soul), easy to sharpen, but has exchangeable blade as well.

Come on now, would this not give pride of ownership, tons of utility and make him think you are the best mate ever?

Gerber EAB gets my vote. Put a serrated utility blade in that and don't look bad.  :multi:
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

ooooohhhhhh, I like the looks of that one, I might need one of them. Utility knives are definitely the most practical choice no doubt. But he is into carrying real blades, don't ask I'm not sure the reasoning. I was the one who told him to grab the Kershaw he has now. I just wanted to get him one just to be nice.
