Walk and Talk, Terry.  How smooth do the blades open and close?  Is it snappy or not?  Soft springs or a nail breaker?   That sort of thing.  If F&F is the aesthetic part of the package, the W&T is the functional part.

W&T, F&F  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

Sooooooooooo much to learn here. Thanks everyone for being so patient with my 6 year old questions :tu: :salute:

F&F is fit and finish. How flush are springs, any gaps, blade angles scales flush on liners ect. :tu:

Not quite as pretty as the Case Scout shown above, but just as functional:

US Army issue "Demo" knife, made by Camillus in 1992.  It may not be quite as refined as an Alox Soldier or SI, but it's still built like a tank.  The blade on this is nice and sharp, and just for Terry, the W&T is excellent, the F&F is very good, and for breakfast I had a THE&C W/SPK.  ;)

That's a new addition, no?¿? We had those in our demo kits when I was a Combat Engineer in the Army. I think the ones we had were wooden scaled but we graduated to these later  Looks great!¡! Hope you like it!¡!

Yep, Terry, that's a new one to me.  I have an Imperial-made one from 1961, same knife except the screwdriver/bottle opender has a thumb stud.  The Camillus ones are considered by some to be the "true" demo knives, kind of a Veic/Wenger thing.  :)  It's a nice knife, and in my pocket today for a workout at the store.  :tu:  BTW, those extra acronyms at the end there are deli shorthand for a Taylor ham egg and cheese with salt pepper and ketchup.  ;)

Tiny, think Peanut size blades. Two blades, each with its own backspring.

Ain't that the truth. I must have used mine at least a dozen times today. For small tasks I would not have pulled out a 4"+ folder for, especially in public (had to open small package of salad dressings in a restaurant). I carry a little slippy with me just about everywhere but bed I think, haven't found a use for it there yet.  ;)

You're just not trying hard enough.  ;)  I use my traditionals in the same way, for when I don't want to pull out my larger folder around people.  They see a lot of use in that role.  :tu:

It is a hobby really.
I can do 99.9% of my cutting tasks with the Mini toothpick but still like to have bigger and different knives to carry.

The 375 reminds me of the small Schrades of past.
Really nice snap, good finish but a bit too small to use. Also it is a bit round so you cannot get  (well, I cannot) a good grip on it and feels like it will turn round if you twist it / push it a bit whilst cutting.

It was bought used as the new prices are too high for what you get. Like all used knives with wooden scales it had a smell like someone had it in a kitchen for 10 years...

So i gave it a wash and oiled the knife and the scales to make it look and smell nice.

:2tu: Very nice lot there D!¡! I don't keep a slippy by the bed but I do have a Chive on the night stand :tu: I do keep a Stockman on the shelf in my closet where I may need it for menial tasks and a Old Timer on the end table next to my armchair in the living room :tu: I really don't carry any of them anymore  It may be because I've got many other lockers that I like more. I also feel safer using the lockers rather than a slippy. I had my Swiss Champ main blade fold in on the end of my thumb years ago while I was using it to bore a hole in a plastic buckle  :ahhh  :ahhh Hurt a bit  I still don't know why I wasn't using the awl   :twak: :twak: :twak: One of those DA moments of mine

Same here.  I've taken a real liking to the toothpick pattern lately.  I got a Case one in CV for Christmas and it's been getting a lot of carry time, tucked in the 5th pocket of my jeans, patiently waiting for its time to shine.  :)  As to the older small Schrades, I have a Minuteman that is also a nice little knife, if a bit on the too small end of the spectrum.  Carbon steel though.....

Cuts but not too much, so you can safely clean all the gunk from it before sharpening it... How thoughtful!!

My latest, a Rough Rider electrician's knife that arrived today.

As seems to be the norm for RR's, it's well put together, no blade play.  The screwdriver/wire stripper blade is liner locking.  The ruler markings on the blade are actually etched in, not an onlay.  Pretty neat knife.  :tu:

I've seen them, they're on the list.....  :)  I've owned a number of Rough Riders and I've been very happy with their quality.  I've owned and used Case, Buck, GEC, Queen, and other companies'  knives, but one of my favorite slipjoints is a red bone handled RR Barlow.  It's just about perfectly put together, the walk and talk are great, and it's just one pretty knife.  :tu:

RR Doctor's knife. It looked like something I could use.
The larger blade rubs on the liners but otherwise it is OK.

Tailstands!
