Rust makes me stronger!!  :viking:

Before using it it was washed in an ultrasonic cleaner (any germs should have exploded then) sprayed with WD40 to clean the pivot areas, washed with hot water and soap with the help of a toothbrush, and the blade was cleaned with alcohol. I cleaned some of the rust/patina using Brasso and sandpaper but I did not remove all of the  "colour" to make it shiny; there was no real pitting, just some surface black spots.
After using it a new bluish patina is forming. Usually the most germs should be hidden in the handles/covers, especially on wooden ones. Mine uses derlin so hopefully not a lot of germs will be hidding in them.

I got a $50 tip from a contractor the other day at work, and decided that it's been a while since I got myself something nice and traditional.  So, I ordered this little sucker.  Expected it in several days, but it arrived next day!  :tu: Case Peanut with CV blades and yellow Derlin handles.....

It sure is a little sucker, but that's exactly what I was looking for - something I can forget about in my pocket but would be there to handle cutting chores in certain situations.  Customers don't appreciate large folders the same way I do.....  ::)  Nice snap to it, no gaps, very nice little knife!

I always liked the yellow, no nonsense look of Case XX handles.
Be careful as these small blades have a very powerful snap..

Yeah I've noticed!  Hasn't gotten me yet, but it's trying..... I also like the yellow, simple but classic.  Other companies just don't do that yellow quite as well IMO, most I've seen are just too bright, trying to match the Case but not getting the shade just right.

I agree about the snap on the Case Peanut's blades.  I've had one for about two years and although it doesn't see enough use time really, I've carried and used it enough to know that while the Peanut may be small, it needs to be treated with some respect.  I'd say the thing has a stonger snap than my GEC Barlow, which has a pretty forceful snap in its own right.  However, once you've got either of the Peanut's blades open, they don't feel like they're going to close on you.

You see, this is what happens when you're friends with your local hardware guys and they know you're a knife nut......

The big boy is a Case pattern #54 Trapper in CV.  The smaller one is a pattern #07 mini trapper, stainless and red bone.  Both pretty knives, got a great price on them too.  :tu:  Still, the only slipjoint I've carried for a week now is the Peanut I got last Wednesday.  Seven straight days carrying the same knife is a bit odd for me!  :sa:

The slippies are multiplying again!  :ahhh  ;)  Rough Rider Barlow in red bone.

The F&F on this knife are great!  Good snap to it, no gaps.  Very nicely done.  :tu:  What looks like a chip in the bolster is just a reflection.

It's been a week.  Certainly counts as later...  :pok:  :P

I had one of each of these at one point, and traded them.  After they were gone, I realized how much I liked them.  :(  So, I got a couple more.  :)  Case 3207CV Mini Trapper, and a 3137CV Sodbuster Jr.  :tu:

Here's a couple of mine. A Woodsman, Old Timer, Moore and a no name.

The Old Timer my daughter found on the way to school 13 years ago. She hid it under a rock and got it on her way home to bring to me. Good girl, huh?¿? That knife has seen better days and don't get used much.

I got the Woodsman on a trip we took to Branson last year. It came with the hand carved case in the picture.

The Moore was given to me on a fishing trip I was on a couple years ago with a group called Reel Thanx. They take wounded military on fishing trips to Lake Amistad. Pretty good group of folks. Some of them were involved in the accident in Midland, TX that involved the trailer that was hit by the train.

The silver one, I have no idea where it came from. I chalk that one up to my TBI.

Nice collection. I like the yellow one and the old timers are clasics.

The silver one looks "oriental" to me; maybe Chinese or Japanese...

That's what I thought too. I think it was a flea market find

I believe this pattern is about 4 1/8", fits perfectly in the hand. I saw it and absolutely had to have it.

Got this from my Mom for Christmas.  All I told her was that I'd like something from Case with CV blades and bone scales.  She certainly has good taste.  :)

Case 62032CV small Texas Jack in amber bone.  Such a pretty slippie!  I'd had one at one point, and it was traded.  I don't intend for this one to go anywhere though.  Great snap, no blade play or gaps at all.  This is going to see a fair bit of pocket time and indeed saw a lot of use Sunday and  today opening gifts.  Thanks Ma!  :tu:

Won't be going on my wishlist due to the liner lock (I'm not a big fan of locking folders).
It really is a beautiful looking knife though G :tu:
