part 2, The problems...A crack, scales falling off (steel warrior), off centre blade, bolt sticking out, flaking Buck Creek, soft, flaky stag buck creek. As I said, I am in contact with the seller and he is more than happy to replace any of them... I am trying to see if postage cost will be covered. The stag on the buck creek is very similar to some stag I got on some, much cheaper, schrade deerslayers, i.e. not the most brilliant quality. I have had problems with scales on buck and RR before so I know these occur with other, good quality, slipjoints. For me, the Buck Creek are reasonably expensive knives (luxury items where looks and finish are very important) so I expect a much better level of finish than with the chinese made knives. I think Buck Creek and to the extend that I know, German Bulldog knives are not of the most brilliant quality, they seem to be below, similarly priced Case knives, from my limited experience...Zed, I still cant see the pictures...
I do prefer the blade set-up of the Improved versions, they are like the old Hawbaker Specials that CSC is currently making now. And GEC has a version in their Furtaker line which now has me very interested.
Though I can still not see the main pictures on the screen, I can now click on the thumbnail, below the picture, and see them on image shack Thanks.
(Image removed from quote.)I like the way they've patterned the scales on this one. Very fishy
I sure wish you hadn't mentioned the CSC.... Luckily it appears to be a bit out of my price range.I'm impressed with the many different patterns that GEC offers, but I find it strange that they have a muskrat and a trapper both in the Furtaker line with the same clip/wharnie combo. Also, I think true muskrats should have a single spring, not two, just like a true whittler should have two, not three. That's just me, I suppose. I damn near bought that green Tidioute Furtaker Trapper Mike had in the "EDC" section, but someone else got to it before I made up my mind. Oh well, another knife I didn't need! I bought that red Humpback CV "whittler" instead.Terry
Not sure why you find it weird that two different patterns would have the same blades, is quite common actually. You can find Jacks, Barlows, and Gunstocks with the same blades. Standard Trappers and Moose patterns with the same blades.

Hell, I'm not sure why I think half of the things I do!

Hell, I'm not sure why I think half of the things I do! Senility perhaps! They say as you get older the first thing to go is the mind. And I should know, I'm only about a year older than you and I have lost most of mine already! 2xTap
I acquired another 1970 Case today. A Mini Coke Bottle dressed in red jigged bone. After carrying my Barlow for a few days, I'm really starting to like the chrome vanadium Cases, and they just don't seem to be able to make bone look this good nowadays:(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)
You're only 4 months older, actually, so we're probably in about the same boat, except that I'm considerably more slippy poor... I still look damn good though, and that's what matters! At least that's what my wife tells me, and surely she wouldn't lie... Terry
