I'm getting so sick of this crap. Every damn time I turn around we have a new tax. The only reason we keep getting taxed is because the jack hat's runnign this place have no idea what they are doing and just spend, spend, spend, and when they need more they just take, take, take from the citizens. I can't wait to get out of this piece of smurf state. I have a pre-paid phone because I cannot afford a proper plan and phone. What makes them think I have more money to give them. I might go phone less again just out of sheer principle. Smurfing crooks.

I just got a text message saying this.

I'm afraid that's the case everywhere. they've just increased the minimal wage here, people were happy. And then boooom, new road toll and taxes and did prices increase.

Trust me, I completely understand. I get that businesses have to be profitable, but if their is any wage increase it just gets passed down to the consumer. God forbid McDonalds doesnt make their usual 95 billion dollars a year.   ::) Its like it does not even matter if they increase wages as the cost of everything you buy will be raised and it all evens out again. Keep the rich, rich and the poor, poor.

Let's be careful not to let this one get political too. I tend to agree with people getting mad at taxes too, but this is just not a good place to discuss what parties do what and how.

Nothing to be sorry about.  MTO is a great place to vent.

I just don't want to see people starting to blame the Democrats or Republicans for this and that when the bottom line is they are both just as parasitic as the other.

It's not confined to any one country or one particular political party, either.  Here in Oz they want to raise taxes as well, rather than look at where the money they raise is being spent and cut waste.   >:(

Oh I know. Its all around the world. My frustration comes because this is just the tiniest tip of the iceberg. In California we already have the highest gas tax. Now they want to add a "global warming" (first in the nation and on unfounded information) gas tax on top of it. Then they are going to charge you per mile you drive when you pay your (more) taxes at the end of the year. Then we have to pay tax on everything we buy. Even with all that crap it barely scratches the surface of things like this in the state. Makes me sick to think about.

CA also has one of my favorite book-stores in the whole world...

The Other Side of the Hobbit in Berkley :tu:
Hope it still exists, it's been a while since I got a chance to go there and as it looks I wont be visiting that particular shop anytime soon
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I definitely don't see this as party pointing finger thread. Most people are starting to Realize no matter where you live or what party you think you lean towards we are all starting to get screwed one way or another. That's why I love my tools. You pay for what you get, and if you buy low and put the effort in you can create/refurbish a real beauty.

Lets distill this issue down to its most salient point:  when half of my income is confiscated by the multi-layered bureaucracy, I am left with less disposable income with which to feed my Gerber Dime addiction.

I have always thought that as a reminder we as citizens should commission a number if artists to create some fancy guillotines that can be displayed in front of government offices.

Just to keep the government humble.

It's ironic that this country came to be because of taxation without representation, yet here we are today in the same situation. We may have government officials, but they surely don't represent the common man/woman or the good of all people.

Sadly its out own fault as a country. During presidential election years, we as a nation have a 60% voter turnout. Midterm years are  absolutly abismal, at just 40%. It seems that everyone complains about the government, but half our country doesn't care when it comes time to pick our leaders.

I also feel that having more than two realistic choices for president would help.

Nothing to be sorry about.  MTO is a great place to vent.

I just don't want to see people starting to blame the Democrats or Republicans for this and that when the bottom line is they are both just as parasitic as the other.

:P

I agree 100%.

I had no intention of pointing any fingers at any political parties.

They're not proper parties anyway

Not once have I seen any of them that drunk they're running round half naked with a traffic cone on their head, getting a member of the opposition in a headlock and saying "I love you, you smurfing smurf", or even so much as trying to light a fart!

Useless!

I do remember an evening where my brother did wear a traffic cone... And I must confess I was witness when after a Gluecifer concert, a friend of mine stole the gigantic plastic bag of french fries from in front of a shop and asked every passer by if he wanted to hve a puff on hi enormous fun cigarette... We had a hard time taking the thing off of him and finding the place it belonged...

They do that. Just in better bars than you can afford because they have a lot more of our money than we do.

That's why we never hear about it.

Over the last few years there has been an investigation and trial regarding a few senators in Canada.  One in particular is responsible for misusing his expense account somewhere in the neighborhood of $90,000.

Ok, fine.  He misspent $90k.  I'm not happy, nor I'd anyone else- after all, that's MY money.

So the government offers to to the responsible thing and force him to pay it back.  Using MY money that he gets as a paycheck.  And all of this only happened after an expensive trial and investigation paid for with MY money.

Guillotine is much faster and cheaper.
