What did you get for Boxing Day?
on: December 28, 2015, 02:33:40 AM
Here in the Sault, we have a by law stating that no business can open on December 25th. Hence, today was boxing day around here.

I decided to brave the crowds and left at 7 sharp to see what was going on. I was totally surprised at how quiet things were. I did my rounds and never really saw many folks. I did however find a few items on sale that I needed and/or wanted.

The biggest find for me was this Estwing hatchet. I have been looking for one for a while now and lo and behold, Home Depot started selling them.

It came factory razor sharp and has a nice heft to it. The handle is very comfortable. I think I like this more than the SOG variants.

Next find was this Camillus CK3 hunters set that features a dressing knife, gut hook, and skinning knife.

My thoughts on this are varied. The knives themselves feel a little cheap...which I guess it is considering I paid 19 dollars for it. Love the ergonomic hole that gives the user plenty of control. Not so sure about the overly large sheath that features a very thin belt loop.

Next was a nice little set of 5 mini pliers by Husky. The set comes in a small zippered storage case. I am happy to have this little set as I tend to use them quite often in some of my hobbies. Having all 5 together will be helpful.

Last is this drill bit set.

So that wraps up my Boxing Day finds. What did you guys find?

Oh almost forgot...the bonus shot.

A little Leatherman information.

I had to google Boxing Day.  We don't do it here in the Colonies.  Looks like you got some nice loot.

I don't have a use for that Estwing but I love it. I have a geologist's hammer from them and it can do a lot of damage. But for the day the Zombies attack the axe would be more effective.

I have a more traditional Estwing axe for chopping wood. For when the zombies come I have a Viking battle axe.   :viking:

Do you get a lot of "hand vibration" through the handle on that Estwing?

The hatchet looks sweet. And I'm not sure why the drill set comes with an "extras" box but EVERY kit should have one of those!!!!! I usually put a Phillips and a Torx6 in every kit because they are the most common now. But they rattle and fall out!

The rubber grip keeps things comfortable.
