Bummer about the Cryo, I think it a pretty sweet knife even tho mine doesn't get much pocket time anymore.  The Leek is also pretty terrific.  Really thin so no matter how you carry it it disappears nicely.
The Leek is ok. A little slippery. How much better is the sandvick steel over the 8cr?
Would be good.   :tu:   :tu:   Until then I will use the coffee one from the poll. (Image removed from quote.)

Leatherman Rebar
CS Mini Recon 1
Victorinox Executive
Thrunite T10T

I really wanted to keep the code 4, but they don't make a mini version of it. I was impressed at the quality of Cold Steel so I wanted to try again. Enter the Mini Recon 1 in clip point. every review I've seen of this knife has been great. Got it for myself. I will try this carry setup for a month to get an idea of how well it all works together.

Returned the Leek today in exchange for the Cryo. I like trying new knives but I didn't have the same confidence in the Leek. Glad to have the Cryo back.

All the reviews on the mini recon 1 are 100% accurate. The knife is wicked sharp and slices through cardboard like butter. The locks are strong. Almost too strong. It takes a lot of strength to unlock the blade. Cold Steels triad lock is no joke. Also, the g10 scales are really aggressive. I had to take a file to smooth them out just a little. Not sure what makes them so aggressive but a pass with a file made it manageable. I'll try to get a pic later today. It carries well. If I could I would get deep carry clips on all my knives. Despite not having one the Recon is really slim and feels good to pocket carry.

The cryo is nice. I like the blade shape. At one point I was looking at the intellect and the fatback. The intellect in particular, I like flippers. I may try one at some point, but it's down there on the list. Did you ever consider one of those others?

I hadn't considered them. But the intellect looks like a winner. Know I must add that to the list

I think I will. Tapatalk is constantly changing and not getting better. I may have to switch to the mobile site

The Nexux 5x has a fairly good sized screen doesn't it  I have a 5.1 inch screen and after a bit of getting use to zooming in and out the regular site is just fine for me  That way I am familiar with it and everything works like it should :tu: Just the same as my laptop and desktop this way

With Kampfer sending me an awl for my wave and some parts from Loki, I will finally be able to make the wave perfect.

It's been a little since I've put up any updates, which was intentional  >:D but for good cause. First the Recon 1 has been a good knife to me. A really good knife. I've used it everyday at work and it has performed without fail.

I've also gotten a few new toys in the process. The CRKT M16, Spyderco Sharpmaker, and Lansky Turnbox. The sharpmaker is still on its way, but I have used the turnbox and I am impressed at how well it sharpens. Really easy to use and puts a good edge on my blades. I wanted to get a good sharpening system with all the new blades I have. I needed a way to maintain my knives. Question about the turnbox; has anyone added other degrees to the frame? It only has 20 and 25 degrees. Wondered if someone has a mill or something to add 15. Just curious.

I also got my first fixed blades this week :nanadance: SOG seal pup elite, and Kabar Short. I have no real need for them, but I do have a camping trip coming up and wanted a little more knife

Just in case. Lastly, with the help of Loki and Kampfer the biggest mod I have done in a long time is now complete. It still needs tweaks but the overall concept is done. It's not the mini surge nor the recharge. It's the WaveÂł

Three simple changes that I've been wanting for a while now. Serrated Blade with hook, awl, and Rebar plier head. The only hesitation I had is with the plier head. I actually like the non replaceable cutters better for hard wire cutting, so instead of losing them completely I put them on my Rebar. Switching the pliers caused many a :bnghd:  :bnghd:  :bnghd: but eventually it came together. I was tempted to put the s30v plain edge blade on as well but decided against it. I have folders with “super steels” and Iike my mt blades to be easier to maintain. All in all this is my take on what Leatherman should do for the Wave update. It doesn't need a complete overhaul like the previous stage. Just a tune-up.

Anything I miss?

Couple of pics

I have had a sharpmaker for years and love it :tu: I do freehand sharpen most of the time but you can't go wrong with the sharpmaker  If you are like me then you will sharpen every knife in the kitchen and all that you own in a matter of days :D

We have a trip coming up. The hardest part was figuring out what I was going to carry. I wanted to bring one setup to carry the whole time. Eventually I settled on this setup. WaveÂł with bit kit, Explorer Plus, Thrunite T10T, Fisher Space Pen-Bullet, and a off brand watch. I'll have a pack with me so the wave will travel there. Everything else will be on my person. I don't think I'll need the wave, but just in case.

Thanks Mon. I think it's time you start your own thread so we can keep up with you  :pok:

I agree Poncho. I was going to go extra light, but usually the day you don't have your tool is when you need it most. And considering I'll be away from the stash I'd rather be ready.

I've thought about it, but I don't think it'd be as interesting at this point.  Earlier on in my MT/SAK journey would've been better.  Maybe though, it could be fun :tu:

Great Wave mod.  I was looking at my OG Wave today and was considering some things.  Then I realized I didn't have a 5 point torx bit

Understandable. I use it for my more reflective thoughts. I didn't want to derail other threads with my ramblings. Plus I have enough tools to rotate and try different combos at this point. So even if I don't try anything new, I can still nix it up. Give it some thought.

My local hardware store has a buck 110 and 119 I've been considering. The 110 I think will happen. The 119 I'm on the fence about. Any thoughts

The Buck 110 is one of those iconic knives isn't it? Like the Opinel, Ka-Bar, SAK etc. I'd say go for it. And show us pictures.
