I agree. Every time I see one  iconic is definitely the right word. We'll see how funds are looking next month.

That's the same with me in that I have several MTs to switch it up.  I do have thoughts on them every so often ;)  My own thread may be a good idea.

My local hardware store has a buck 110 and 119 I've been considering. The 110 I think will happen. The 119 I'm on the fence about. Any thoughts
The Buck 110 is one of those iconic knives isn't it? Like the Opinel, Ka-Bar, SAK etc. I'd say go for it. And show us pictures.

Both 110 and 119 are classics,
Main workhorses of the Buck brand, well known and instantly recognisable in all of the US.

Have a nice trip, Demel!
My toys:

MTs: Surge (2x), Skeletool CX, Rebar, Blast, Fuse, Micra, Squirt (3x), Wave, Crunch, Mini, Spirit (2x), Pro Scout, MP700 (2x), Diesel, Powerlock, PowerPlier (2x), PocketPowerPlier, Blacktip , ST6 (2x), 5WR, A100

SAKs: Bantam, Executive, Ambassador, Minichamp, Classic Alox, Champion, Farmer, Explorer, Swisschamp, Golf Tool, Wenger Champ, EVO 52, Pocket Tool Chest

We have a trip coming up. The hardest part was figuring out what I was going to carry. I wanted to bring one setup to carry the whole time. Eventually I settled on this setup. Wave³ with bit kit, Explorer Plus, Thrunite T10T, Fisher Space Pen-Bullet, and a off brand watch. I'll have a pack with me so the wave will travel there. Everything else will be on my person. I don't think I'll need the wave, but just in case.
(Image removed from quote.)
How do you like your thrunite? I have a ti4T on the way. Suprisingly, i also have a fisher space bullet pen in chrome on the way

I would love too, it somewhat discouraging at times because the camera can't always catch what the eye sees. I never feel like the pictures do the scenery justice. I've been working on it.

Smaug :waving: it's good to see you pop in. How have you been?

Busy! Just bought an old house, and we'll be catching up with it for awhile. The bright side is that my plier-based MTs are getting a LOT more use than they used to. I'm wearing my Spirit X around the house all the time now.

Re. the Buck 110, I'd say get a used-but-not-abused one from ebay, preferably an old one, when they still had the old quality. Why do I say that? I bought one of the Ranger-sized versions (112?) with the PaperStone handle material. The lock-back piece was ground too thin, so that it didn't open or close smoothly. I meant to send 'er back to Buck for repair or replacement, but just haven't gotten around to it over the past several years.

They're beautiful to look at, nice to manipulate, and feel wonderful in the hand. (heavy, thick) Pouch carry is the way to go, though. They're an icon that started the tactical folder phase. Folks used to buy 110s, then fit aftermarket thumb studs to them. Then, the mfrs. figured out there's a huge market for that kind of knife and things took off from there. In short, it's as significant in the knife world as the original Leatherman is in the MT world.

It's always nice when the pliers mts start stepping in the help.

That's an interesting view on the 110. I've always read it's "iconic" but no one gave a reason why. Thanks for the insight.

Thanks guys

Here's a very interesting observation. I've noticed on the job site most of the gerber sheaths I've seen are on the younger guys. The older guys have Leatherman sheaths. I seen a pst in great condition and the guy said he carried this same one for over 20 years. Also caught eye of a sidekick, fuse, and couple others. Also note, most people don't know about Leathermans warranty. I've talked to several people whose tool was pretty beat up and explained the warranty process. They all seemed surprised. Again just observations.
