Going for Timelord 3 badge for my first one!
on: February 25, 2016, 08:24:27 PM
Time to break my badge virginity I suppose, never considered myself a watch collector, but this proves somewhat otherwise:

Left to right:
Seiko 5, my "dressed up" watch
Blue face - "louis valentin" some knockoff I got for less than 5 Euros during San Fermin one year
WTI white face - some newspaper promo deal
Timex analog/digital - my tank, I don't even remember when I got this one... maybe 28 years ago or so...
WTI blue face - same newspaper promo deal
Timex indiglow digital, my other tank/work watch... and it shows.
WTI grey face - same newspaper promo deal
Swiss Military - my regular daily wearer, except those dress up occasions where I use the Seiko 5.

The WTIs looked great in the promo shots, if they were so massive I'd probably use them.

So, am I worthy? Any other questions?

Edit: sorry for the garbage photo, they're really hit an miss with my tablet, but usually 200% better than my phone, and I'm too lazy to break out the DSLR, the battery needs charging...

I'd say that qualifies for a badge!  You must read a lot of newspapers.... or the cats eat a lot of newsprint!  :P

That Rammstein looks great.  I'd almost be interested in modding that one with a nicer movement when/if it ever failed.  Any idea what the guts are inside?  I assume all of them are those cheapo watches that most places tend to get to give away.  You can buy those kinds of things for $2 on eBay or $5 on most street corners in any major city....

They are all really nice looking watches, but Rammstein is really striking.

I haven't popped them open to check, but yes I'd assume a cheapo movement.

If they had 30mm faces like my Seiko 5 I'd likely be wearing them all the time, but the Rammstein crystal is 40mm wide, plus the outer shell... maybe if I wear it over my Fett gauntlet...

It you want it, it's yours, remind me to bring it next time I hop over the pond.

yeah they all look good in the glamour shot... the "great barrier reef" watch is very submariner like, but again the scale is wrong.

nope, fixed... the screen/crystal is ~33mm diameter... using my fancy high tech cardboard multitool.org ruler.

Big wrists are my problem too.  You get tired of buying watchbands that barely fit even when buckled in the last hole, and then the tab isn't long enough to tuck in so it sticks out. So, you seek alternatives.  My alternative was to make a watchband out of a dog collar.

+1  I buy the longest Nato bands I can find. :tu:

Yeah got loads of different NATO straps,it's the size of the actual watch, anything under 39mm looks too small,I remember when I wore my massive prg-40 a lot  even my dw5600 felt small after wearing that huge thing, these days I only mainly wear a square G-shock as it takes me back too 1983 when life was stress free  :salute:

most of the time I just use the first hole on most watch bands, my wife usually needs a couple added for her uber tiny wrists... I also prefer the velcro straps a lot of the time as they seem to fit more comfortably as they can adjust slightly.
