What to carry in the watch pocket?
on: March 08, 2016, 01:02:00 PM
Do you use the small watch pocket? If so what do you carry in it?

I have carried my fenix e01 in it before it moved to my car keys.

Currently i edc my Zippo in it, you can't even notice it's there and it is almost impossible to fall out of the small watch pocket. It is almost like the watch pocket was made for a Zippo :)

You could probably also carry a classic sd or leatherman squirt in it or a spyderco ladybug or other mini knife or MT.

I would hate to see all those watch pockets unused :D

Most are too shallow to carry anything, apart from coins. (not women, pockets)

In the deeper ones I will usually carry a small slipjoint knife, like a mini toothpick.

My Jeans apparently have larger watch pockets. Depending on the day (and the carry) I carry either a Classic SD, an '03 Soldier, or a Spyderco Native (which sticks out some,  but considerably less than how much it stuck out with it clipped to my pocket)

Last couple of years I've been carrying a 1884 Silver Dollar in there. Nothing but the silver value but I'm way to restless with my hands for my own good, it's nice having something to play with that isn't a knife as that looks a bit strange in public. It's also got a really nice sound to it when tossed. Lately I've carried a Classic in a small leather pouch to compliment a Rangergrip 61 that I've been "breaking in".

Seems like you have two small pockets there...

I use mine to carry loose change.

Usually put my keys in there (I only carry three of them), so they don't scratch up my SAK / flashlight in the main pocket.
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

I don't usually carry anything in my watch pocket unless I'm smoking, then I find it a convenient place to carry my pipe knife and either matches or a lighter.

I always use my watch pocket as my change pocket. I hate to have change loose in my front pockets with all the other stuff I carry and I am not going to carry it in my back pocket. Any change I get from purchases go into the watch pocket and I empty it every night into my change box. I wish I had another watch pocket on the left front pocket as well so I could carry a small tool in there.

Seeing the pics and your reading your comments it seems you have much bigger watch pockets and we have here in Germany.

That being said, what do I carry in my watch pocket?: Answer: Nothing (as it is too small for most items).

Sometimes my thumb finds its place in there.

My answer is more or less the same as the Captain's - it starts the day empty, and any coins from change go in there, to be put in the money pit at the end of the day.

It used to carry a Zippo, but I ended up with chemical burns on my hip from overfilling or somesuch, so I gave it up.

I don't generally wear pants with a watch pocket anymore.  But I can carry a Champion + in there.

Spare flashlight battery and a magnet.

Doesn't the magnet damage the battery?...

I hear a lot of people that stopped carrying a zippo because of the burns on their hip.
I have never encountered that eventhough i sometimes overfill my zippo.

I have no idea how it is possible unless you have overfilled it so much that the liquid just pours out  I dont think it can happen from the small amount of fumes that leak through the lid hinge.

Also one thing i always do after i have refilled my zippo is lighting it for 10 seconds so all the excessive fuel is burned.
