Adam Savage's EDC on Tested- Some surprises
on: March 22, 2016, 04:23:43 PM
This may have been posted before, I don't recall, but it's worth watching again if you've seen it:

A few notes I took from this that I thought were interesting, at least to me:

Adam likes the Fisher Bullet pen because it fits easily into his pocket.  I agree completely.  I usually don't carry it in a pants pocket myself, but I do appreciate it for how convenient it is overall.

Adam and I also have similar hangups about flashlights.  I have mentioned on many occasions how much I dislike fancy batteries, and I prefer a AA powered light.  I also dislike twisty lights and prefer a clicky switch, although I'm not as picky about whether the switch sticks out or not.

Interestingly enough, Adam has multitools, as we all know from watching Mythbusters and wears one at work, but it's not part of his regular EDC.

The problem for me with an EDC clicky light is that the light can get actuated by accident unless 1) the clicky is very stiff as with a Streamlight Stylus Pro or similar, or 2) it rides in a belt holster.

Agree.  My Thrunite has had this happen several times as had Thrunite Ti4 penlight.  The penlights clicky is very easily pressed so only shirt pocket carry for this.  I guess you can always unscrew the head.

I've edc'd clicky pen lights before they tend to go off in your pocket sometimes so I veered away from them. I've had no issues with my Maglite Solitaire turning on in my pocket.

I'm also in the minority when it comes to modes on flashlights.  I love the strobe feature since most are "hidden" anyway and I don't have to cycle thru them.

Interesting video.

I do like my space pen although mine rarely is carried in my pocket, generally it lives in my iPad case.

I always just drop my space pen in my pocket.
