That is the Sikorsky S-92 that will be replacing the ageing Sea King all round the UK coast . Its going to be strange as the are going to be painted Black and orange .

Yes    Coming to a sky near you from 2012 onwards . Less Military pilots are going to be used so this will free them up for operational duties . Each black and orange heli will carry the insignia or the MCA , RN and RAF  ( Maritime and Coastguard Agency , Royal Navy and Royal Airforce ) .

I know mate I'm really going to miss them , I was brought up on a RAF base and the seakings were based there . I can always remember waving to the winchmen as a kid   The sad thing is that I've been inside one many times but never flown   And the chances are getting smaller . I came close once out to sea but I was doing radio comms with the pilot  

On the subject of Helis I'm off to see the airAmbulance on the 21st to have a good look round and they teach us their procedures on approaching the heli and loading a casualty .Should be interesting .

Yeah, I'll miss the old Sea King.  I miss Helicopters full stop to be honest - the biggest one I've seen flying here is nowhere near as impressive as the Chinooks that used to fly low over my house and scare the cats to hell!
