Hard list for sure.  I kind of wanted to go with Queen because Freddy was a genius, but I think Queen is bigger than any one album,  no matter how amazing it is.   Same with Zeppelin.  I wanted to pick that one because let's face it, there has never been and never will be as diverse and revolutionary a band as Led Zep.

So that brings us to Pink Floyd, anot her powerhouse if ever there was one.... although they never really appealed to me that much.  I actually prefer Frampton's solo stuff, and I lose respect for Floyd as a whole everything Gilmour releases a "new" album that sounds so much like Comfortably Numb that I have to wonder if he just got so stoned that he forgot he already wrote that song.  Seriously, play Comfortably Numb and then On An Island and tell me they aren't the same song.

So I'm going to have to pick Boston because I love Boston.  They are better than Floyd (at least to me) but not as great as Led Zep or Queen, and so are able to be taken album by album rather than needing to be taken as a whole body of work.

Frampton?

As a stand alone album I would go with Boston - It seemed to arrived fully formed and I'm not sure there's been as an assured debut ever. Granted, their output since then has been well patchy, but as a debut it's hard to beat.

Chose Floyd, but I am also a big Jethro Tull fan. I wore out my 8 track tape of Songs from the wood.

Were you dreaming that Peter Frampton was in the Floyd? Hmmmm, that may be a good idea for a new thread: Fantasy bands.

Some of my earliest memories are of listening to Locomotive Breath and Thick as a Brick in with my dad in the car.

Thick as a Brick is such a great album.  Several years I got to see Ian Anderson perform the whole thing at the NJPAC in Newark. :tu:
