I made it
on: May 03, 2016, 11:57:13 PM
I'm now in Ottawa with Megan, both dogs, the cat and all of our things. ... minus my kayaks.   :(

But, other than unpacking boxes, the move is done and we are all here and exhausted.

Photos?   Like these?

My poor loaded trailer, Megan and her dog finally reunited and a tractor trailer I passed that was flipped into the ditch yesterday.

How's that?  :D

I've been putting off doing mine too. Stone strike always happens the week after replacing it. Pisses me off.

It's a common problem with Jeeps because the windshield isn't raked or curved.  It's just a flat, vertical piece of glass, very susceptible to impact from stone chips.  Then when it's -30 out and you use the heater inside, it makes a real mess.

She's gone 4 months without her dog. It was  only supposed to be a month bit I decided to break my ankle and screw everything up.   Megan's parents have had Jackson since I got injured.

I didn't have space on the trailer to bring them unfortunately do they are still sitting in my garage in Halifax.

There's a place locally that rents kayaks so I guess that will have to do until I have the time and $$ to make another trip.

Darn 14-hundred-odd kilometers that is like once around Switzerland (along every nook and cranny)... furthest I have moved is 30km :P

Congrats on that

congrats. at first I thought you've made the city council

I'll be sure to go annoy you next time I'm in Ottawa.  :D

I passed through Montreal around lunch time yesterday and I thought about sending you a message to see if you wanted to get lunch,  but I was so close to getting where I was going that I juts couldn't being myself to stop!  Besides, I may be doing a lot of jobs at the port in Montreal, so I imagine you'll be seeing a lot of me.  You are always welcome at my place whenever you venture out this way!

Sorry to hear about the Kayaks. Happy to hear you made the trip safe and sound.

Guess you are that much closer to your parents now. If I ever make it down to Ottawa, I will be sure to let you know.  :salute:

I'll be going to visit them for the long weekend.  I like being closer to them, especially as they don't seem to be getting younger.

I can recommend a mobile windshield shop if you are interested. They will give you a price over the phone.

I'll probably take you up on that sooner or later.  It's been like that for a few months now and I'm currently in no hurry to replace it yet again.  I'll probably have to do it for the licensing and certification here, but frankly I'm a bit sick of putting new glass in it every year!

Unpack the box, or in your case boxes, with the MTs first please. Glad you made the trip safely

Definitely boxes.  And those things are heavy!  You don't realize how big a collection is until you try to move it!

whoa! boss hits long truck and only gets a cracked windscreen and they flip over! :o

congrats on the move/trip Grant

how come you couldn't pack the kayak(s) on top of the trailer? makes me sad because their your babies too!

The kayaks sit on J Racks that are mounted on some aluminum cross bars that bolt to the side rails of the b trailer.  As you can see in the photo above, the cargo on the trailer was piled much higher than the rails, which left no way to mount the boat carriers.

I'm pretty annoyed about it, but there is a kayak rental place not far from here and my father has extra boats I can use when I visit him, so all is not lost.  A round trip to go get them is going to run around $700, and I really don't have space to keep them here anyway.

Congrats on that

 :drink:

It's 1400kms each way, so in the past month I have logged about 4500kms on my Jeep, not counting local travel.  And much of that is hauling trailers.  :ahhh

congrats. at first I thought you've made the city council

I doubt very much that I would fit in well with council.  I would much rather live in the woods and have those idiots leave me the hell alone!

Somehow, Megan always reminds me of Disaster Girl.

So, no wonder I look at her pic and guess what's the first thing to come to mind?...
