I thought I had lost my really good, brass, tire pressure gauge three or four years ago.  I just found it yesterday.

It was in the front pocket of the backpack that I keep all of my air tools and compressor accessories in.

I had the same problem except instead of being in a backpack it was in the case for my tire pump.

I bought one of those big socket sets that has all the size drives and wrenches too. 1 week later the 10and 13 mm wrenches were missing. Since then I've had to buy 3 sets just to get one or two wrenches I need so frustrating

I think that's one of the main reasons I don't buy one of those big fancy sets, although I do drool over them routinely in the hardware stores.

I have a relatively cheap set of wrenches and ratchet. So far they've covered most of my needs (changing/tightening the battery in the car, swapping out a failing turbo hose - which I upgraded to a silicone version which should never fail)

Yeah I have picked up a few other Dexter branded items since moving to Spain (including the wrenches not pictured) and most of it has been ok so far.

I get so antsy about losing stuff that I just buy two sets, the "good" set stays locked in the tool room and can't possibly get misplaced, and the "expendable" set goes in the car / gets used.

that way I don't mind if I lose one, because the good set is still safe.....

So what happens when one wrench out of a set goes missing?   Does the good set come out?  Do you just replace the one tool that went missing from the good set?  If so, what then happens to the good set?

Hell no the good set doesn't come out.
The good set is for admiring, and showing prospective partners as part of a complex mating ritual.

If something happens to the "user set", the "mystery spares" boxes get rummaged, and if no solution presents itself either more tools are purchased, or a jury rig is applied.

The male shows it to the female.

Female thinks ooo shiny, but more importantly her subconscious is thinking "he has tools, he must know how to fix things, therefore he will be a good provider for my offspring."

Then her subconscious not leaving well enough alone thinks "he it showing me tools? What a nerd, so best marry home but best pass down someone else's DNA, therefore I can breed nerdyness out of humanity, but will still get it's advantages."

Lucky for everyone a nerdy male designed her bra and shoes, so her subconscious goes on to think, "that seems like a lot of effort given the bra and shoes I have to wear, I'll just stick with this guy."

This is why I keep a big set of tools hung on the wall.

I do want the job, and think that my experiences as an employee will help me as an employer, regardless of the pay.
