Well that makes sense. Even if we disregard fishing and focus solely on land dwelling animals, blood is blood and it can get nasty after a while (scent wise)

We should question just about everything. A thought that just came to me, if the Garberg could have this issue, many haters will attack it over it while forgetting that micarta has the same issue

Most haters of Garberg are so because it doesn't cost less than $50 USD. Which is ridiculous because Garberg is more knife, and not exclusive from buying the excellent sub-$50 Moras available. Personally, I rotate between carrying my Companion, HD, Bushcrafts and Garberg, depending upon how I feel or what I need.

...
Even still, I'd figure the Mora plastic sheaths would be closer to $10-12 and just about as indestructible as the Moras themselves. Seems like it would be easy enough for them to produce and sell them; perhaps I'm the only one who'd like this option though!

I know for a fact that you're not the only one who would like this option  :D.

Don't know if there are more than two who'd like this option though  ;).

P.S.: That's a nice collection of Mora's you have there mate, can't say that I've ever seen that Bushcraft Tan before ... but I can say that it looks .

Actually we have about a 10 or more page thread about that nonsense

Thanks! I've never put the whole Mora family together for a group shot, but I do love them all the same!

According to Björn Åkerblom at Morakniv, that tan one was just released in Germany. Not sure if or when it might be released in the US.

General question- why doesn't Morakniv qualify as its own sub-heading group, like Swiss Army Knights, Leatherman, Gerber, etc..? I imagine a Moraphile sub-section would be fairly popular. I know we have this Mora Club, but I think it would be justified to have a broader landing strip.

Am I talking out of my Kansbol?

I have two Mora's both the same, but this one I put a leather belt loop on. Don't remember the model; it originally had the moulded guard on it.

Am I talking out of my Kansbol?

A lot of other companies like BRKT, Cold Steel and Spyderco have tons of fans here as well so it could be argued for all of them. I have a general suspicion that since multitools in all shapes and sizes are the primary focus is the reason the big manufacturers have their own subsections, and it might make the forum a lot more cluttered for the mods to keep an eye on.
I remember being utterly smurfed off while being a mod on another forum because someone thought it would be a great idea for the "Metal and Rock" section to get 15 subsections.

This also avoids possible confusion when it comes to "Should I get" types of threads.TG24 had one such thread roughly a year ago where at the start of it he was eyeballing 2 different knives one of which was a Garberg if I recall correctly. As it happens the list of "ohhh check this one out too" became quite long and he could have missed out on some really good suggestions or creative input simply because people could miss that particular thread. I know I've been late to the party on some because I don't give much thought to some sections of this forum

I think the original model is 511. Nice mod

Very nice mate.  :tu:  I've fast become a fan of the Eldris myself, but I've got to admit I'm not certain what that first on is.  Not quite a Basic Allround, is it?

When Crow was doing the GAW he said it was a 125 years celebration Mora 511. Looking at their site, it's just a celebration edition of the basic.

I only done a couple fish, but gutted lots of deer and squirrels and so far never had a bad smell on the Bushcraft black. Same for the Mora 2000. But I also don't wait 2 or 3 days to clean the blades either. That maybe why they don't smell.

Could it be that it is just a better material smell wise than the one used on the Companion?

Just joined the mora club with my new mora companion hd  :)

Loving it so far feels very good in the hand and the sheath is fitting very solid.

I have a question though, the Morakniv logo is not engraved into the blade seems more like it laser etched, is this a new thing as most of the ones I've seen online are engraved.

Second question is how do I get my a mora badge  :multi:

Welcome to the club. To get teh Mora badge you must start a new thread/topic and post pictures of your Mora in use. Then you request the badge by going to Profile -> Awards -> Show available awards -> then you find the Mora user award and click the request icon (hand getting a medal) and post the link to your thread/topic in the reason (just don't forget to hit the Request award after it)
