Is a PC a tool?

I have added/swapped a few components in my current rig since I got it in 2009. Ram, SSDs, graphics cards, Power supply, even rehomed to a different tower.

I have a new (to me) mainboard, cpu and ram on the way that is well past double the rating of my current rig.

Going from Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 (2.6Ghz) with 8gb ram to Core i7 2600 (3.4ghz) with 16gb ram.
Nice gaming machine!

I just ordered a silver denarius from Caesar Augustus that was struck around 19-18 B.C.. It commemorates a comet that appeared during the funerary games held for Julius Caesar. It's in poor condition and someone nailed it up to something two thousand years ago, but it llooks like the real deal. I'll know for sure after I can examine it. You can barely make out the "DIVVS IVLIVS" (Divine Julius) inscription and the comet on the back.  If it was in nice shape it would be way out of my price range!

Wouldn't a 2000 year old nail hole be square edged since hand forged nails are square and not round?

Good question! Not all nails were square back then. There are plenty of examples of round nails and artifacts with round holes from mthat time period. I still need to check the coin to see if its authentic. While I'm doing that I'll check the surface inside the holes under a stereoscope.

A friend is sending me some bulbs of heritage purple skinned garlic from his garden to plant here just to see if it will grow in this climate.

I've got Skyrim Special Edition, The Witcher 3 and DragonBall Xenoverse 2 all on the way.  That should keep me occupied for a year or more :tu:

New board arrived, Intel DQ67SW motherboard with an i7 2600 and 4x4GB Kingston DDR3 ram  :ahhh

Sadly my current CPU cooler while great only works on socket 775 so I need to make up my mind and find a new cooler already   :ahhh

This also means I need to start preparing my machine for migration  :bnghd:

New glasses. I had my tested as I have noticed things are getting blurred again, particularly in my left eye.

The results are my right eye is only slightly worse, only 1 step worse than before, but my left eye is 3 steps worse. I dunno how big the steps are though.

I've gone for the photo reactive coating on them this time, along with all the usual anti scratch, etc that they normally throw in, and I'm getting 2 pairs seeing as they had a deal on.

They'll be ready for me to collect on Christmas Eve she said, so Merry Christmas to me  :D

I'm also about ready for new spectacles.  I think bifocals are in order this time round.  I swear the printing on labels is getting smaller and smaller

I love the anti reflective coatings and scratch resistant stuff they add.  I've not got the photo reactive coasting yet but have considered it.  I really should as we get over 200 days of sunshine yearly.

New mainboard/cpu/ram has now replaced my old one. Running all my stuff off the old OS installs for now, boy is it ever noticeably faster! Over the coming days maybe I'll opt for a clean install of win10/xubuntu, but it's nice to be back up and running again, albeit faster...  :2tu:

A couple of pairs of (ugh) Bear Grylls Craghoppers I bought second hand from another site (Are there any other sites?). I hope they fit - after I paid for them I read that they run small. Hey ho, we'll see.
