The EDC tool you have all been waiting for!
on: November 28, 2016, 05:53:13 PM
Just saw this pass by on tv in one of the commercials.

JML released a torch that does it all: being a SAK + being a flashlight.

http://www.jmldirect.com/at-home/home-accessories/8-in-1-multi-torch-bright-led-torch-and-multi-tool-penknife/

Any thoughts?

My first impression is that it looks like it's made by Hasbro or something similar, and way to bulky to be practical.

Hehe, saw this locally in a shop.
Yes, looks too bulky to use the tools, assuming they DO work?
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

Yeah, a bit on the gimmicky side on first impression. Usually prices that low means cheap bendy steel or dim lens. Someone should buy it and do a review ;)
I learned the hard way too that tools with multifunctions are great but always keep the flashlight, another or dedicated knife, and a fire starter as a separate tool. I had a Rambo knife I thought was the answer to all of my problems until I promptly lost it. With some separation of the tools you at least have something to work with.

Well, that's it folks.  It's been a great run, but now that this tool is on the market, there's no more need for MTO.  I've sent an email off to our server hosts, thanked them for their time and asked that they shut us down now that the worlds most absolutely perfect multitool has been released.  There's just nothing to discuss now that it is out.

I want to thank you all for your time and participation in this forum, please file out in an orderly manner as we will be shutting off the lights and locking the doors momentarily....

I have a knife somewhere that I call the Stab In The Dark knife.  It has a flashlight built into the handle and a clear guard so when you click the flashlight on, you can see what you are cutting.

Of course, it takes C Cells (I think?) so the handle is HUGE!

I bet they didn't name theirs "Stab in the Dark" though?

Now, that is an unfortunate name for a tool if I ever saw one...

I have one of these.  My well meaning much better other half gave it to me for Christmas a few years back. Over polished tools and highly impractical.  I keep it in the glovebox of the car....

I think we all have tools, knives, flashlights etc that fit in that category.  :D
