Surge & ST 300 plier head
on: December 10, 2016, 10:40:09 PM
ive noticed a faint line on both jaws on the backside (outside edge) of my Surge with the replaceable hard wire cutters. The line runs from the bottom of both jaws to the tips of the plier head.

I have no doubt of tool durability if logical limitations are observed but are the newer heads cast as opposed to forged?

Could just be a slight need of proper finishing?

All Leatherman's pliers are cast, and always have been. The Gerber MP-1 series, and the Multitasker multitools are the only tools I am aware of that have forged pliers.

Having said that, the lines you are referring to are just artifacts left over from the casting process. While a bit ugly, and probably in need of some better finishing, they are nothing to worry about  :tu:

Not really all that ugly, just not used to seeing this on a plier head. Your assertion was exactly what I figured.
