The James Brand
on: December 25, 2016, 06:03:06 PM
Well I just received a very nice slip joint from my parents for Christmas. I could tell the second that I laid eyes in it that it was of great quality, but I had never heard of the brand! Apparently The James Brand is fairly new and has a few offerings on the market, but the knife that I received is by far my favorite. This is The County model with walnut scales. One of the most handsome knives I have ever held. A true gentleman's folder.

Its also worth mentioning that the packaging that this knife comes in is awesome!!!

The pictures do not nearly do this knife justice. It is beautiful. Also, the snap of the slip joint is the best I have ever felt! The lockup is perfect as well. The steel is Sandvik 12C27. It has a 2.5" blade and is 6" overall. The blade is a straight-backed design. Almost a drop point, but not as much drop. The lockup on this knife is perfect out of the box and by far the best fit and finish on any recently made slipjoint that I own.

I am extremely grateful for this gift, and extremely impressed by the quality of The James Brand at first impressions!

A nice piece to be sure and more of a treasure in that it has a story with it now. Did you carry on the tradition of giving them a coin in return? According to legend it is always good luck to give a coin when gifted with a knife.
