Well, you could make what's called "cowboy coffee" around here. Stir coffee grounds into just-below-boiling water, let sit for 4 minutes, then pour a small amount of cold water onto the floating coffee grounds. Another minute or two and the grounds should settle into the bottom. Pour into a mug leaving the grounds behind. This is similar to Turkish coffee I believe.

I now view coffee as clean (for the lack of a better word), so if a ground slips through I swallow or spit......no effect.
Looks like everyone has the methods covered, but I will add a +1 to the fact that the only correct way to drink coffee is black! (Image removed from quote.)

I do agree that coffee should be black, right up until the point I pour smurfloads of milk in it. How people can drink it black is beyond me.Anyway, I've just cooked up a brew to give it a whirl. I used one on my small camping pots on the stove, cooked it up in the pot with sugar, and poured it into a large mug already laden with milk. It's a bit of a palaver when you're used to making tea with a teabag in a mug, but it worked out quite well for a first effort. I might tweak the method slightly next time, but it's heading for the gullet and not down the drain, so I reckon that makes it a success

And for the record, I use an ancient percolator from the 1960's at home. Got it at a garage sale around 1995 for $2. Cleaned it up, and that thing will make a brew so potent Pablo Escobar would be proud of the kick it gives ya......
