New ST300 uneven handles - should this bother me?
on: February 01, 2017, 08:57:51 PM
Hey I'm not trying to be a priss, and not sure it this should bother me, but i just bought an ST300 and the handles look like this when closed. Their twisted when open too. Just makes it feel cheap. Am I expecting too much for what theses things cost?

I think it wants to be a Spirit when it grows up :D
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Welcome to MTO!! Sadly, mine was the same way when I got it probably a year or so ago. It functions just fine, but I agree the flex/movement in it can be annoying. It seems to be pretty common with new St300s from what i can tell.

Okay so I decided I didn't like it that way. Call me petty but little things like that just seem to irk me. Just a minute ago, I openned the tool up almost like I was going to use the ruler, held the straight side flat on a desk, the other side hanging off, and pressed on it a few times. That bent the tool mostly straight. Now it closes pretty darn close!

 :multi:

So for anyone displeased with st300, you can bend these straight. Heads up, mine loosened up a tad afterwards which is okay to me because now I can nun-chuck it open and impress my friends!

I'm sure some are like that but I don't think it's the norm. Both of mine line up just fine.

Very common,  but the spirit just rocks!
This shouldn't bother you and wont affect the performance as long as the handles don't wiggle when opened.

Firstly, Welcome!

Secondly - if you're interested in  the whole Spirit debacle, see here: http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,47468.0.html

It's really funny in places.

Late to the party.  If the plier tips were also misaligned then I'd send it back.  If it were just the ends misaligned which it seem like in your case ( nice fix ) no problem but still annoying.  If you've read the Spirit thread linked then you'll see even the Sprit suffered this issue.
