Why this forum is great
on: February 07, 2017, 06:39:34 PM
I haven't been posting as much as I used too, but I'm still checking things out. I'm waiting for the SOG Powergrab to be released  looking forward to the other new tools as well. But I've also been exploring my other hobbies, knives and watches specifically, and whenever I end up on some of these other forums.......I get frustrated almost immediately       :crash: :crash: :crash: :crash: :crash: :crash: :crash: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd:

They have so much clutter everywhere on the screen (ads, small fonts, hyperlinks left and right...) I don't even care about the content at that point. I'm just trying to get off of their site as soon as possible. I'm not a neat freak but unnecessary clutter drives me mad. It reminds me why I like MTO so much. I can find things easily, jump to the different boards quickly, I can actually read everything clearly. It's a really enjoyable experience. If I am looking for some info on other forums i have to use tapatalk. It helps a little but the MTO format just works well. It's far more of a distinction when you visit their sites. So big thanks to the behind the screen guys that make all this happen. We don't talk about it as much and no you can't please everyone, but you're doing a damn good job.  :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff:

The big difference between us and other forums is their Admins drive much nicer cars than I do.... and who wants to waste their lives driving nice cars and going on great vacations?  :P

I hate clutter too, and if that means we don't talk about energizing the revolution paradigm to improve productivity then so be it.

After DKS's most recent survey and answering honestly it was good to see knives top of the list.

Often wondered if I shouldn't rather hang around a certain other blade-related  :P forum instead.........but it just seems like an unfriendly place.

As opposed to MTO  :salute:

It helps that for reasons unknown this forum is allowed by the web filters at work.  Realistically lulls at work are the only time I have to browse.

I'm no longer active on any bonsai forum, but there was a time.....

Ditto for fly fishing forums, there is one I miss terribly because it's a great place like here.  Two problems, it's a horrible reminder of how little I get to fish these days, and no way will any web filter allow access to the site, simple due to the name  :D

Bingo! Same for bushcrafting and camping, but there are a few who do that stuff here so that works for me.
I also love the attitude here also. Everyone is cool, Mods are not threatening to ban you all of the time. Unless it's JD, he threatens to ban me all the time. Thread derailments, it's a MTO tradition. The list can go on and on, but you get the point.
