It's pretty cool living in a city with an NHL franchise.
I have only ever lived in two other cities with NHL teams, and I was way too young for hockey when I was in Montreal (left there when I was 4) and Toronto is a different animal entirely. The Leafs are like the CN Tower. Everyone there is kind of proud of them, but no one who lives in the city has been there to see them in person. Given the huge international population in Toronto, the World Cup gets a lot more attention than hockey... plus, you know.... insert Toronto Maple Leaf's choking/losing/golf joke here.
