Going to see the Rangers Vs the Senators tonight

As if going to see an NHL Playoff game wasn't cool enough, my brother is driving in from Sudbury (about six hours away) to see his team, the New York Rangers play for the first time.

I don't know what is more exciting- my brother coming to visit (been about 20 years since the last time he visited!) or that I am going to see a real NHL Playoff game. I've never been to an NHL game myself, having not ever lived in a city with an NHL team... except Toronto I guess, but come on.... the Leafs aren't a real NL team....

Of course, I'm rooting for the Senators, so at least one of us will leave happy tonight!

You may be thinking of Washington, not New York. Washington is also playing tonight but against Pittsburgh.

Oh, and the Senators won in overtime. Great game.

Where I was it wasn't too bad. We were in the nosebleed section but still had a great view. Unfortunately we couldn't get three seats together so Megan was a few rows ahead of us and she had more problems with a rowdy smurfhole behind her. If I'd seen him I'd have thrown him off the balcony.

I also missed the play by play from the announcer that you get on TV. The guy in front of me had a radio and headphones that I assume he was using to listen to the game while watching it. Not a bad idea at all.

The capacity crowd was loud, and I am not overly fond of loud noises or crowds so I wasn't thrilled with that. I saw a couple of altercations between drunk fans in Senators jerseys and drunk fans in Rangers jerseys on the concourse, but the police were also in attendance and their jerseys proved more effective than either of the others.

It didn't look like anyone was hurt, so that's good too.

And, this may be blasphemous to say while living in Ottawa, but I'd really hoped for a good, close game (which it was) and a win for the Rangers- after all, between parking and the tickets to the game, the whole event cost about $500 and my brother drove six hours to see it. It would have been nice for his team to have gotten a win.

There were definitely parts I wasn't thrilled about, but I really did enjoy it overall. I had a great time and it was definitely something I would do again.... on occasion. I wouldn't make a habit of it, even if I had millions of dollars to waste on overpriced entertainment.

I'll stick to watching it on TV at home, where there's only one loud, drunk, rowdy fan to tolerate!

sounds like fun! I've never been to a pro hockey game

but I was at the old barn the Blackhawks used to play in...to see the circus

we did get free tickets to see the minor league hockey team the "Portland WinterHawks" recently from my wives boss but she was sooo sick that day we didn't go

ohh well maybe next year but it sounds like you had fun ... where's the "selfies?" of you and the team/stadium/rowdy fans?

If it wasn't for Lundquist the Rangers wouldn't have made it that far. That guy is a wall, and probably the only decent talent on that team.

And seriously, how could it be high sticking hitting Zuccarelli in the face? That guy is only three apples high.... and even then that's while wearing skates!

I'm totally surprised that the Senators won last night. Don Cherry called it last week when he said the Penguins were too busy screwing around and not paying attention.

I still believe the Senators may win a couple of games but will eventually be beaten by the Penguins. Still, I'd love to see them take the cup, since the Red Blacks won last year and I think back to back championships in Ottawa would be very cool.

Of course, I also expected that the Senators would have been eliminated by the Bruins or Rangers too, so maybe they will survive this round. I'd love it if they did, I'm just not expecting it.
