Y'all are very talented.  I've made some leather items and they are no where near the quality y'all produce.   :like:

Thanks! I think this is the first project that I'm sort of satisfied with..

That's pretty much how I feel too. But I guess practice, practice, happy mind and some more practice will do the trick

My bonus son had his new buscard loose in his backpack and have a tendency to loose stuff so he asked me if I could make something so he could tie it to his backpack. His mother asked to make it simple but sturdy so here is what he got.

The other end of the paracord is tied inside his backpack

Not a knife or Mt sheath but a card sheath.. Does it count?

Thanks everyone! He was worried that the bliip (nfc) chip would not work through the leather but I asked him before and it worked great so we are all happy

Well, according to the title, it counts if it was homemade.

Picked up some old purse leather so I will try to make a sheath for my Contego.  Theres enough for another sheath or 2 so I may make one for my Nimravus.  I'd like to make one for my HEST too.  I need to think this thru so I don't waste material.  Been looking thru this thread and man some of y'all are really good.   :salute:

That's how you get started. After awhile, see what works and what doesn't, find out if you want to change something and do it.

Try different leather types/thickness and see what you like best.

Belt pouch for my wallet.  Shotgun shell on the right is my lip balm, little blue thing on the top left is a ball point pen cartridge.

Alright, I finally made my first knife sheath.  I bought some leather that someone began to make a purse from.  I got it for a $1 which I was very happy about.

The person also etched some flowers which I wanted to keep for my sheath.  I used synthetic sinew for my stitching but I totally forgot to add the belt loop   so the loop is my work around.  I actually dont mind it plus it rides excellent.

Lots of learning curves for sure.  All and all I had fun and I am wet forming it now as I type.  My edged will need to be burnished then I'll add my homemade beeswax sealant to it.

Thanks for looking..

No sew small sheath for a Farmer:

I modeled this on the Spirit or Leatherman sheath and it worked out ok except the leather could be thicker to help with the sheaths rigidity. Aside from that I'm pleased with the result and it only took about half an hour from start to finish.

Tools used: Stanley knife, Sharpie, Hammer, rivets and riveting tools.

2 pieces of leather.

Thank you .  I always wanted a leather sheath for my HEST.  Lots to learn when doing leather sheaths.  It was fun.
