Wolverine/Rapid River Knifeworks
on: November 02, 2008, 06:18:29 PM
A few years ago I bought a Wolverine skinner.  I misplaced it when moving and the other week I found it again, yeah!!  :ahhh I did some checking on the internet and apparently they had a name dispute so changed their name to Rapid River.  Wish I could show a pic but it is a nice knife.  It uses a Rc 58-60 steel, not stainless so I keep it oiled.  I have a mirror polished stropped edge on it.  It's real nice.

Thanks.  This is the second Lassie come home I have experienced.  The other was with a Super Tinker.  I wondehr if the knives actually "bond" with us.  Naturally I cleaned it up and stropped the edge right away.  Had been a little green corrosion on the brass hilt so I did some Brasso on it.  When they have wondered they get "feelings of neglect" so you have to give them a little re-assurance that you still love them.  It has the Wolverine name on the blade.  Wonder if it will have a collector's value someday since they were forced to change their name.

I didn't know they had changed their name to Rapid River.  had to dig to find them on the web today because of that.  According to what they say on their site they had a name dispute with another company.  Now they are at www.rapidriverknifeworks.com.  My knife is the same as the skinner model you will see there except mine has a brass lanyard insert hole in the handle and no logo image thing on the handle.  Of course mine says "Wolverine" on the blade instead of Rapid River.  Nice knife, high quality steel.
