Do you want a "pretty" handle, or a "functional" handle?

For functional there is always scrap wood cut to shape and screwed together with Chicago screws.  That's exactly what I did with an old cheap machete I got on ebay.  I found some old broken/scrap furnature at work and started in with the saws and drills!

Mine was a little tougher though since the tang was pretty thin, so I coulden't put two slabs like you can...I had to take a block and saw a notch down the middle and slide the tang through that..then line the holes up..etc..

Where did you get the blade BTW?

Thanks corrugated, had some of my friends searching for a good mahogany wood for the handle. About the Chicago screw don't have it here any alternatives?
Found the blade just laying around the farm shed 4 months ago, the handle is rotten and the metal rusted had clean it up good. Its I think a leaf spring metal, poor edge retention but good enough as everyday don't care what happen to it machete.

You could try wraping cord around it for a handle.

I've done it before on a knife I made and it worked better than I thought it would.

Have a look through my thread on my knife and see if there's anything that can help :) You should be able to find some wood somewhere nearby, for pins i used just normal steel bar, liners can i think just be any old piece of plastic, some sandpaper (or a sanding machine), epoxy and some sort of finishing for the wood (i used linseed oil) and have a go! Good luck :)

Update, found a beautiful mahogany wood crudely shape it. But the tang's surface is irregular would it be a bad idea if I
put metal epoxy between the wood and the metal tang? As for pins the only thing available is your normal nut and bolt. I plan to sink the nut into the wood and the bolt as well then cut out the excess nut to flush it.

Wrap it in paracord and dip it in plasticote.  You can find plasticote at just about any hardware store as it used to dip plier handles in to make them more comfy.  The cord would take a lot of shock out the handle and plasticote would keep it all together.

Good idea!!  It woulkd give the knife a Rambo IV quality :tu:

Some run from breaks of ice, and answer none:
And some condemned for a fault alone." -William Shakespeare, King Lear (1608), Act IV, scene 6, line 169

just coat it in gorilla glue and wrap 1/2-inch diameter rope around it in tight coils. Start from the bottom, that way you can go over the wraps again at the top and make a comfortable tapered handle. cheap, comfortable, and attractive.
