Me too. I really do hope I am proven wrong.

On the other hand, I have hated almost every #1 movie for the last few years...

Ever notice how almost every movie is #1 on someone's list these days?  :D

It's too bad I'm apparently the only one who liked Enterprise- I wouldn't have minded seeing a movie with Captain Archer, but I guess after they beat the Xindi there really wasn't much they could have taken on that wouldn't have messed up the timeline somewhat.

Time travel is cool. First Contact was good, it had Borg and time travel in it  :P.

I don't mind a bit of time travel but by now it's a very tired plot device.

Especially in Star Trek where they seem to do it to solve almost every second problem.  I wouldn't be surprised to see the Enterprise G (or whatever they are up to!) being fitted with an improbability drive....

Nope your not the only one to shed a tear at it's passing

I really hope that they pull this film off, but with the way that Hollywoods all style over substance, I can't see it :-\

I hope they prove me wrong though :)

There's always ever increasing warp speed to get you out of trouble. Oh almost forgot the cloaking device.

I'm going to be quietly optimistic about this one.  I'm sure I must be right in thinking this will be the first time that a "new" crew has gone straight to film rather than starting off on TV then going to the big screen.  I don't know that it will make any difference but at least they are trying something new.

But in some ways it isn't new, as it were, it's supposed to be Kirk and the team's first mission.
I'd prefer they took off from where Star Trek VI finished.

I have always been a big Trek fan. I tried Enterprise for awhile. It was not that bad overall. I think Scott Bakula did a pretty good job as Capt Archer. I like the premise of the new Trek movie. Either way they would have had to recast most of them anyways. So why not go with an early adventure. I think that Enterprise did not do as well as the others because the public expected Capt. Kirk or someone who acted just like him.

I am suprised that Voyager never went to the big screen. to me that was one of the better spin offs. Voyager went back to the seek out and explore/seat of the pants adventures that were the hallmark of the original StarTrek.

Next Gen seemed to have Capt Picard do a whole lot of managing versuses Captaining and getting deep into an adventure. Sometimes if Trek was reality versus a Hollywood fantasy I could see Capt Kirk asking Spock to scan the planet's surface for hotties and danger, If Spock found one or the other Kirk would always spring for the turbo shaft.

Picard's famous words were "Number 1, Take an Away team".

Sorry if my Nerdiness is Showing

I just tell my girls they are multitools and just leave it at that, the concept of swiss army knives hits them later  :ahhh

TNG did introduce the borg, ds9 had it good moments especially battle scenes with the dominion, voyager was very good (7 of 9), the original is the one I haven't seen as much as I wanted too, and got to see very few episodes of Enterprise.
