Tramontina (Tramontinox?) Praiana Question?
on: August 30, 2018, 01:54:21 PM
I found this knife at a pawn shop out of town yesterday. I haven't seen anything like this, and my Google fu was weak as all get out because it took me some time to figure this one out somewhat. I tried Tramontinox and got nothing. However, Google kept telling me to use Tramontina. Lo and behold, there is the knife shown in the images section. However, I have noticed that some of those have wooden handles..and this one features plastic handles. So I am left wondering if this is a knock off of the original? Tramontina Praiana, or is it the same knife but featuring different handles. I hope someone on this board will be able to tell me, as I can't seem to find much online to be truthful.

What drew me into this knife is its odd shape and function. The handle has a wickedly sharp corkscrew that for some reason, I like to prick my largish hand on when I hold this knife (note to self to change my grip slightly). The back of the blade has a bottle opener, and odd squarish cutout that I have no clue as to its purpose or function. The back also features a fish scaller. Oddly enough, the tip features a somewhat wavy serrated portion that peters out into a plain edge. The blade features some nice decorative art on one side. The handle decor is also funky featuring a camping/fishing scene on one side, and a hunting scene on the other side. The leather sheath has an interesting metal clip on the front as well as the traditional belt loop.

All in all, a neat Brazilian knife. I would like to hear any info you guys may have on this (I think at least) interesting piece.  :salute:

Here is a picture I found on the internet with decription....if you look closely at the picture on the box it looks like it says Tramontinox on the knife in the picture...so I am assuming Tramontina added the inox on the end since it is stainless.

I also included 2 other pictures of Tramontinox knives

I have no idea on any of the specifics of the design features, but it looks cool as all get out, and I would definitely be bringing that to any BBQs I got invited to!
