Either of these would do the trick.

sadly, no mask and something came up so...

day 8: lightweight grind I guess. gotta work on those small upper back and shoulder things. plus the axe is a good way to work the forearms

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Day7

No use...but learned a new trick.
I was watching Townsend's Youtube channel build a 1700s log homestead. Now his idea for this isnt a final cabin but the 1st temporary home a settler would build to last a few years while establishing a homestead. Because of this there are no surviving examples and few detailes; so its an experiment.

Here is his video with a lot of good axe work

Now while watching this I noticed he was using the ballance point of a strait hafted axe to act as a visual level and verify the straightness of the walls. Since I was hanging floating shelves they made a great refrence to test this.

I used a coustom tomahawk made by an old friend. The handle is just a rough chunk of 1×2 oak I rounded off and stuck on it. I picked this one to test because of that straight oak handle.

Cool video!     :like:

Day 8

Mundane use today.  Wife is nagging me about mooncakes expiring soon in fridge, so used my Chip Chop No1 to cut open two for breakfast.

:D  Thanks, Ray. Hope to get some in-use pics today! Axe, not OC Pioneer. It lives a life of relative leisure on a shelf, taking a spin in my pocket once in a while.

Is that the oyo ? I have one of their knives, made in Germany i think but i gather all the axes are made in Norway, i really like the little Viking one they make, the one copied from the one they found in the garden, they reckon its over 1000 years old, certainly stood the test of time  :tu:
