Sounds interesting. I've been trying to save up for a GEC Calf Pen (cheapest I can buy locally), and may do it with just that once I get it. I did the original (though I didn't request a badge) and I did one for the badge in Feb.  Sticking to one traditional for 30 days will be a real challenge. I change just about daily.

So any of the Buck 110/112 variants are good, or just the Classic?

Any of the classic variants. Not the new ones with thumb studs or pocket clips.

At some point those would seem to slip away from the intent of the tag, 'traditional'.  A drop-point 110 with nylon scales starts to look awfully modern to me. And, of course the Buck 110 has it's own challenge. I think the intent here is to dip back into older styles of knives and work with those. Since all modern knives are essentially built on the traditions of traditional knives, I think it's challenging to define the "Traditional" category. Is a Spyderco Endura a Traditional? Nah. But it's no different than a 110LT, really. In that sense, I think it would be better to go with the J.E. Made which is clearly a modern take on a Traditional design (clip point, slip joint).

My 2¢.

(Steve beat me to the punch.)

The rules don't require sticking to one, but it is encouraged..... :pok:

That was my plan, but wondered about the 110 Classic and the 110LT. I have a Winchester 112 clone as well.

I'm in, I love traditional slip joints. I have a green bone Case Russlock I am fond of. What might make this a funner challenge: traditional pocket tools! The P38, the four way screw driver, key chain nail clippers, pair of pliers instead of a MT. Maybe I'm just nuts, but that might be kind fun.

When i was out for a walk at the weekend i found this bit of antler..

As soon as i saw the curve i knew  what it could be used for  :D

I am so tempted to finish this off and use it for the challenge,  pointy sticky out bits at both ends might be an issue for carrying though  :tu:

Thanks Speedy, still need to finish the slot and beef up the pivot a bit probably with a sleeve, not sure antler can take the stress  :dunno:  i will check, this type of knife has probably been used for hundreds of years so i'm guessing it wont take much to make it usable  :tu:

It couldn't get more traditional that that!

I'm looking forward to seeing how it comes out.  If it stays pointy...perhaps a slip sheath for the pocket?  :dunno:

So I have to ask.... what’s wrong with someone adding a pocket clip to a traditional knife?
