Leatherman Surge Saw and File replacement kit

Look what I found at a local outdoorshop:



Nothing special, just a regular Saw/File kit for the Surge, but look at the price ...

I found this set when I visited the local outdoorshop a couple of days ago, I walked into the store, going straight to the knives/multitools corner (as always  ::)) and saw this kit hanging there.  Over here most Leatherman stuff costs an arm and a leg, and then, out of nowhere, there's this set at a ridiculously low price. I even used my smartphone to check the multitool site where I buy most of my stuff, turned out they sold it for 12,9 €.

So, no surprise I grabbed it (since there was only one there) and ran to the cash register.

Can't figure out what happened, did somebody scr*w up and put a wrong price on it, did they order one by mistake (since it's not available on their website either) and wanted it gone as soon as possible ...  :dunno:

Anyway, at 1 € it was a no-brainer, even though I already have a spare set lying around here somewhere  :D.

I lose the saw on mine so many times, if I'd been at that store, I'd cleaned out the whole stock. My Surge was more or less new (in box, with papers) but someone had lost the slip and file.

I agree, companies should really rethink all the waste they add to with their packaging.
In that regard the new Free series is a step back I think  :-\

Although being quite bulky, the packaging of the Free is mostly just carboard, even the piece holding the tool and sheath doesn't feel like it's made out of regular plastic, it has a bit of a "micarta feel" on the backside, and only the front is smooth.

I'm not a recycling speSmurfpillst, but it does look more environmentally friendly than the "old" blister packaging (the regular boxes are still the best when it comes to being environmentally friendly).

I'm pretty sure you do have a store like that nearby, since I got this at the  A.S. Adventure store here.  But it does seem to have been a one off, since I've been to two stores only to find they didn' t even have this set,  let alone at this price.
