Wave Plus for Netherlands Police

The Netherlands Police recently acquired 10.000 Leatherman Wave Plus multi-tools.
However, the configuration of the tools on the Dutch police multi-tool differs from those of the standard Wave Plus.
Differences:
- Serrated blade/belt cutter is from the Charge.
- Awl/reamer instead of the can/bottle opener.

The pouch is made by the Italian company Radar 1957.

BTW: These multi-tools are NOT for sale to the public. They are/remain government property.

Maybe they'll end up getting sold as surplus years down the road, but I doubt it. Seriously, LM has finally made the exact model I want, but not available to the public.  And the sheath looks good too.

Is this the first special build tool they've ever made? I've never seen a special order configuration in an LM before.

I put the Rebar awl on place of the can opener. Just like that one

It fits perfectly.

I'll have to check that sometime. I  was going from my ReWaveR build where I put it in place of the bit driver and that has a Rebar pliers head... space required must be different. Thanks! From the pic the police wave + awl seems different somehow from the Rebar one, more curved and shorter, but that may be down to perspective. :think:

From the pic the police wave + awl seems different somehow from the Rebar one, more curved and shorter, but that may be down to perspective.:think:

The rebar head may be the problem. Same as with the scissors.

I used a wave plus head that I sourced on eBay and it fits as if it was made for it.

I do think they used some shorter version in the Dutch police version shown at the top.

But I can guarantee that the rebar awl fits exactly where they put it for the police if you have the wave plus or the new wave plier head.

Did you try to fit it instead of the micro driver? That would hit on the little tab in the middle I guess.

Oh, this was well before there was even talk about the "+" versions of Wave and Charge. The ReWaveR no longer has the plier rest tabs in the handles, those were taking up valuable space and so were among the first to go  >:D. Glad it worked out for you - the "+" pliers head has the same outer contour as the original one and is much more compact than the Rebar head.

Cost; as I'm sure the 154CM blade would have added $20-30. At least unlike the Aussies the penny-pinchers in the government weren't so cheap they went with the Taylor Tough Tool.

And I agree on the loadout. Maybe if enough of us contact LM requesting this be a standard model, they would do so.

I like the combo opener too. But that little awl looks nice. But if it were to replace the eyeglass bit, the awl would have been even shorter.
I modded my Charge AL, and put the Rebar awl in the large flathead's place.

I'd shorten the big flat screwdriver a little tiny bit so it fits into the middle. Then add the awl to the outer position. That's as far as I planned it yet...

Finally! They took out the bottle/can opener out of a MT with pliers...took long enough.

Plz let this be the next wave model...it's strictly better Imo.
