Day 5

Compared to everyone else’s delicious looking food prep, mine was pretty boring.

Day 5, Spartan Saturday. Due to its serrated blade, the REI SFO Serrated Spartan (aka Weekender) is a good companion to any larger PE knife.

I also learned one advantage of my sorta loose blade. I can flip the thing open holding the blade, much like I can a brass Buck 110. Can't do that with the 110LT for some reason.

What is the green stuff on the toast?

Pesto?  Jalapeño jelly?  Green salsa?  :dunno:

Don't taunt us with mystery spreads!

Ah....I zoomed in.....Mint jelly!

I don't think I've ever tried that on toast. Not sure why not......I'll have to dig some up.

I think the more I use the 110 and the 112 the more I come to appreciate them.

I also think it's fair to say that there are more 'modern' knives with newer materials that are lighter, slimmer, easier to carry, etc..... However, the classic 112 (or 110), provides an exception feel in the hand. It feels like an old tool that was deigned when tools were meant to be used by craftsmen. For me, the feel of a full-sized, brass bolstered Buck folder is unrivaled.

Whenever I try to think of an iconic US folding knife design, I think the 110/112 are both on top of the list.  Classic clip point, decent steel, good craftsmanship, overbuilt with good value, it might not be the best looking or lightest knife to EDC, but when it comes to hard use and ergodynamic(ergonomic don't mean much to me, only when the knife in use you can tell how good is the handle), this design is one of the few that I could rely on.

Sorry to frustrate you.  Yes, as you saw from zooming, it is Mint Apple Jelly.  It may sound and look strange, but it is so good,

I am not sure I've read about the story about the missing thumb stud, has it fallen off or you purposely taken it off?
