Day 6:

Released a V2 Kershaw Delly Wade Officer from its bubble mailer, cardboard, and duct tape prison; a job the 112LT didn't struggle in the least with.

The DWO is a knife I've been wanting for years. While still, a small knife at 3 1/4" the blade is quite thick, and unlike later Japanese knives, pretty decent AUS-8, and not soft AUS-6. It is very comfortable in the hand, and actually easy to one-hand open (if I use my right hand). One problem--the seller disassembled the knife to clean it (which really, given the knife's design is unnecessary unlike the Chive I tore down earlier in the challenge), and in the process, loosened the handle from the liner the rubber was bonded to. As a result, it's kinda loose towards the liner. I think I may very well have found my favorite small lockback knife. While small enough to be a rather unnoticeable knife, it's sturdy enough to take on jobs normally suited for the 110 and 112.

Never tried one of those, although I do like the look of 'em.

If you can find one cheap (which, finding one that hasn't seen better days is a bit on the hard side, unless you want to pay $30 or more--mien, I would call moderately used, and was $15), I strongly recommend you do. This thing is, by far, the most comfortable to use knife I have had. Fit and finish is also excellent.

Day 06:

Tonight is Twelfth Night!

Used the Ranger to prep some pork for my first attempt at a traditional Mince Meat Pie.  I think with the Ranger's hunting pedigree, it should be no surprise that it was able to take the bone out of a few pork chops with ease. It then got used to diced the pork into bite-sized pieces.

The diced pork got mixed with apples, raisins, currants, and some orange zest. Everything was seasoned with cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg. This mass of goodness got stuffed into a pie crust and baked for 90 minutes. Obviously I'm no pastry chef...........

Waiting for it to cool down before I cut into it!   :ahhh

Steve, nice pix!

I am not sure I've read about the story about the missing thumb stud, has it fallen off or you purposely taken it off?

Taking off, It's a slipjoint it don't need no stinking thumb stud   :D
It's interesting how I purposely add on a thumb stud to make it more convenient for quick use while you taking it off, but that's totally cool!  :tu:

It's an ugly story and we probably shouldn't repeat it.  All I can think is that Steve has a very patient dentist....and messy work shop......now.... :dwts:
Wait...this subplot sounds more exciting... :pok: :D
