So I snagged a Schrade Century waiter. It’s the same as a victorinox waiter, but cheap and available. (Schrade bought the parts from victorinox back in the day. It had their stamp on the blade, but other than scales it’s in every way a Vic. Vic scales pop right on)
So I broke the scales because I put too much lateral force on the tool. They popped off and I glued them on and then they popped off and broke. (Don’t use the combo tool in a 1-layer knife as a pry bar. Even for really light duty stuff.)
I had some wood scales from a cheap Chinese SAK copy, and I whittled cutouts for the rivers, then expoxied the scales on. The epoxy and wood adds considerable strength! Then I sanded all around the edges to make the wood flush with the liners, and in some places I sanded the liner down to be flush with the wood. Stained it and I like the results!!
