Day 29

A 2000 Vic Soldier was supposed to arrive this week, but no sign of it even today, so now it seems it will miss the challenge. Anyway, here's the Wenger Traveler peeling an orange. I love the talon style can opener, a real multi functional poking, cutting, scraping, peeling, opener tool. I keep them super sharp.

The talon style opener does work well and is more versatile, but at the same time I hate that you lose the smaller driver that can be used for phillips if you do not have a phillips driver.

Nice uses today.

Day 29
After frying a turkey for Thanksgiving, here's my process of decanting the fryer oil back in to the bottle for storage or disposal.
1. I cut down a 2 liter bottle to use as a funnel.
2. I use a permanent, stainless steel mesh coffee filter to remove particulate matter such as any seasoning that came off the bird and remained in the oil.
3. Here's the oil draining through the filter and in to the bottle, and the Champion providing ballast to keep the funnel from moving.

Nice use and process

Some great uses and pictures today.  Hope all who celebrates Thanksgiving giving had a great one and was able to add to their list of things to be thankful for and spent some nice time with loved ones.

Day 29
Still carrying the Yeoman.  Today was some mail opening duty which resulted in opening a couple boxes to ensure future gifts were working.  Then noticed a produce sticker had gotten stuck to my floor some time yesterday, so the combo tool scraped it up.  Then used the scissors to cut open a package of dental chews for my dog.
Nice Yeoman for sure with them scales!  :like:

kamakiri Day 29:

Continuing with the 60% serrated series was at the top of the list since yesterday...but I remembered that the MOTM 50th was technically a discontinued knife since the only continuous Polispectral offerings are the spartans.

I decided to stick with the 60% serrated knife...

Kamakiri- interesting knife!
I think so Rizio!  I think it's a shame Victorinox only made 3 models with this blade.

Nice Craftsman comis!  ;) :D  I wish mine had the Swiss Made opener!

Very interesting knives, Comis and kamakiri.

I also wish the partial or even full serration was available on more models.  I almost always have another knife on me with a plain edge, so having a serrated SAK would give more capabilities.
 Thanks Sos!  :iagree:

I agree. I need to get my hands on some of these to have a few more build options.  :salute:
:iagree: :iagree: Really not a bad option when I can still get them new/unused for $29 USD!  I might have a handful for the exact same reason!  :tu:

Day 30
Yeoman helped with my snack.  First I used it to open a bottle of whiskey (peel off the the wrapping of the cap), then to cut a piece of pie.

Thanks everyone for participating in this challenge.  I have really enjoyed it.  In addition to just seeing great SAKs in use, I saw so many knives that I never knew existed.

Day 30 photos

Last day of the Challenge! Thank you SOS24 for bringing this challenge up!
The Woodsman is one of the best SAKs out there. It has all the tools I need in a urban environment and excels even better in the outdoors! And at my age the magnifying glass has now become priceless. Thanks Barry!  :hatsoff:

Some nice uses and experiences with the discontinued SAKS for November!

November 30 - last day for the discontinued SAK challenge with the Yeoman.  The Yeoman has been used in a variety of ways in November. This morning, I used the in line Phillips  to remove screws in order to replace a headlight bulb on a tractor.    My uses for the Yeoman have ranged from using the large blade to cut a variety of items, open mail and packages, preparing  and cutting food, using the in line Phillips screwdriver to tighten a variety of screws, using the combo tool to remove and replace regular slotted screws, using the scissors to cut an errant thread or hair, and using the magnifier glass to read small print. About the only item I did not use was the corkscrew.   It's been an educational experience.  In December I may downsize and carry a Rambler for the month.

Cheers!

Great challenge everyone. I've seen some really nice knives. I can't figure out why some of them were ever discontinued.

Day 30
Hard to believe it's the last day already.  Here are my two challenge knives together for one last picture.  The Wenger (serrated) Highlander and the Victorinox Champion.
